I've had a similiar problem. But instead of my volume swelling, it cuts out all the time. I will then switch to a new guitar setting, it sounds good for a few minutes and then it cuts out again. I bought my amp new, have always taken good care of it and just spent $200 at an 'authorized repair center' to 'fix' the problem but it still does the same thing. Very frustrating. I'm not very happy with the amp right now.

Hi Rick... apologies to you for your situation. You mentioned getting this amp serviced at an ASC. Which one did you bring it to? What work did they do on it? Did you just get your amplifer back from them (within the past 90 days) and discover that the issue persists?
ASC's, like any repair shop should provide at least a 90 Day work warranty period. It sounds like your amp needs a "recheck".
Thank you for the reply.
I took my amp to ADK HIFi. They kept the amp for a month, charged me $200 and did not solve the problem. They said I must need a new mainboard which would be quite an expense. After just paying them $200, I could not justify buying a new mainboard, which would be quite expensive.
I contacted LIne 6 with my dilemma and you recommended a fresh install of the 2.09 Firmware. I did that and the problem was seemingly solved but after a short period of time the same problem with the volume cutting out resurfaced.
Some questions for you at this point. Would you spend more money to fix this amp at this point? The amp cost $450 new and I've already put $200 into it. It seems hard to justify putting more money into this amp. Also, I've tried the 2.09 Firmware update again but it did not seem to help.
Any suggestions or am I just out of luck? I must be honest and say I am not happy with the performance of this amp. When it was working properly, I just loved it. It has been well taken care of and not used very much. So I am surprised and disappointed to be having this kind of problem. Thanks for your help.

First off, sorry to hear about your frustrations/problem. In your particular scenario, the first thing I'd recommend trying is a fresh install of the Spider Jam 2.09 Firmware. This is the operating system software of the amp that governs all sound and routine functions of your unit.
Instructions on how to do this: http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-4778
If a fresh reinstallation of the firmware doesn't correct the issue, your amp most likely needs a new mainboard. This would turn into a Service Center repair scenario: http://line6.com/service_centers/
