Why does POD HD500 record metronome via USB...?

Hi,

I am using the POD HD500 for recording via USB. The recording software is Sonar 8.

In order to keep my playing accurate, I also use a metronome during recording (switched on in Sonar).

During the playback I exprerienced something strange: I could hear the metronome on the recording! How could this happen...?

In my opinion not only does the POD send the signal to the computer but also receives signals from the software that it returns to the computer. Is it possible...? (the metronome on the recording has a much lower volume but still audible)

I appreciate any useful reply.

Thank you very much in advance,

Martin

while i dont use sonar.... i have a pretty basic possible cause... are you turning off the metronome during playback? lol... may sound silly but you never know...

i use cubase and i have never had it record its own metronome under any circumstance.. but its triggered the second you hit play or record..

I was going to say something like the first reply said. Are you sure the metronome is recorded in the guitar track? You should be able to solo the guitar track and hear whether or not the metronome is actually recorded in that track. My suspicion is that you won't hear it you do that.

No way buddy... There would have to be a metronome in the signal chain or in the pod for that to happen. Like the other guy said solo the track and you wont hear the metronome unless you have left it on during playback. The only other way is you have a mic armed for recording while you recorded your pod and the mic is picking up the sound of the metronome and putting it on a track, that would explain why it sounds so quiet.

My guess is you have just left the click track running while you started playback. You'll need to mute it when your not tracking. Make sure you only have your guitar track your trying to record armed when you are tracking so your not picking up unwanted s**t and with other instruments on your interface, lastely make sure you dont have any tracks hidden in your DAW that were left armed. I have done this numerous times.

I have Sonar 5 and the setting as to when the Metronome kicks in is under Options - Project - Metronome

There will be an equivalent option in your version of Sonar I am sure.
