POD HD Pro - Looping

1st question: Is it possible to record a loop with the HD Pro and have it play out of one side while playing live over the loop out of the other side with different effects, amp settings, etc?
I have a rig now that involves the M9 and all this switching crap controlled by Midi live with Logic. I would love to leave the amp head beasts, the 4x12 and the bazillion cables at home and just have the POD HD Pro, a stereo rackmount power amp and a stereo 2x12 do everything for me.
2nd questions: Any suggestions on a rackmount stereo power amp? Are there any Mesa 20/20's hanging around these days or is there something better around the same price?
Thanks!
The only way I can think of to separate the looper from on the tones is to put the looper in post position and then put the FX loop in the path you don't want the looper in and use the FX sends as the output for that path. So the only thing going to the looper will be whatever is coming from the path that doesn't have the FX loop in it. So if you weren't recording anything else in the loop after your first pass, you could have your other patch es configured however, but if you did want to record and maintain a separationg, you'd have to setup any patch you'd use in a similar way.
So you can set up the looper to work independently out of one side and put it in any order in that chain?
No, the looper can only be pre or post. You can't put it anywhere in the chain. So even if you have a dual tone with the mixer hard panned, if the looper is post, it will sum your tones to a dual mono signal when playing back, That's why I said the only way to have one tone bypass the looper block is to use the FX sends as an output for that tone. That way the looper block would only be getting signal from the other tone.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
