Whammy Bar Causing Problems

I'm using a TonePort DI into POD Farm 2.5 and I've noticed some whammy bar issues. Specifically, when I tried to do wide vibrato with the bar, the sound becomes very choppy, cutting in and out. Playing around with it, it seems like the software/hardware only recognizes discrete frequencies and can't seem to duplicate the in between ones. For instance, I can hit a note, depresss the bar slowly, and the signal dies at a certain point and will stay gone as long as I hold the bar in that particular spot. Then it will come back as I continue downward with the bar. This repeats several times through the whole range of the bar. Same thing on the way back up. I've tried duplicating it with string bends and sliding, but it only happens with the bar. Seems to happen with some models more than others.
Since I am a major whammy bar addict (wide vibrato, dives, and Dimebag style squeals are essential to my style), if I can't resolve this issue, POD Farm and the whole Line 6 setup is going in the trash can, or at least to eBay.
