Strange Battery and Cable Jack Input Issue

Just got my new Line6 JTV-69 sunburst after waiting many months.
Before I describe issue please note I have returned to the Music store to do battery A/B testing with another Variax. So we have ruled out that it is battery related.
So with the battery fully charged this is what happens:
# Plug variax data cable into POD500 everything works fine.
# Plug 1/4 cable in and only real pick-ups work, battery life indicator lights stop working altogether, battery shuts down. no variax operation at all.
# Pull 1/4 back out and plug in variax data cable with 1/4 inch and all works fine again.
# Plug 1/4 and Variax data in together and both real pickups and variax sound work, which is an odd sound and I dont think is suppose to happen.
# Nothing plugged in battery life indicators work fine but if you push a 1/4 inch in, all stops immediately.
So somthing is misbehaving with the 1/4 jack. It seems to turn off the digital environment and battery when plugged in. May be related to the battery life saver process I read about which turns the battery off when you pull out the 1/4 inch cable and turns it on when you plug it in again.
So my conclusion is the wiring, or signal-trigger, or software or hardware or somthing is backwards, crossed, so its operating the 1/4 jack in the reverse of what it should.
Anyone had this, know a fix, ideas on solutions besides sending it back for repair just yet?
I have already fallen deeply in love with this instrument and would hate to be seperated from it for more than a few nights.

What you describe seems consistent with an uncharged or faulty battery. Remember that you need to charge the battery fully before first use; that should take several hours. If your battery is fully charged, try checking its charge with a voltmeter.
Thanks Sleverhead for the quick response. I should have included this, which I have now: "....please note I have returned to the Music store to do battery A/B testing with another Variax. So we have ruled out that it is battery related."
Todd,
This sounds like a hardware problem with the guitar itself and would require getting the guitar back to us to look over and repair as necessary. Let me know if you would like to set this up for us to repair.

Thanks for the Reply Hugo. Much appreciated.
I waited nearly 3 months for this baby and just can't bare the thought of being without it for too long, which I know will be the case, as your service center here in Australia is in Melbourne and I am in Sydney. I did get some very helpful information through a friend of mine who knows someone there at Line6 headquarters. I am going to take it to the shop I purchased it from and get them to swap over the entire batter compartment. Its a very easy job, about 5 mins. The feedback I got was that it may be that. Failing that I will have to send it to Melbourne.
Here is actual video I took of the bug occuring...does look a lot like hardware, battery related, but not battery charge. You can see the battery is fully charged and has been like that since I carefull gave it full overnight charge before use.
All sorted. Had the battery compartment swapped out and all is well
