Loosing assigned function

I use a fbv shortboard MK-2 and an EX-1 together..I have assigned the wah to the fbv and the vol. to the ex....While switching something on the fbv,the assigned function (wah) will switch back to vol. control and depending where the pedal is,I get a sh*t load of volume....any ideas?....thanks...Ben
