Saving Preset problems on POD HD500/HD 500 Edit (post 2.0)

I'm now having problems after updating (POD HD500's flash and my HD 500 Editor software version) with saving effects changes and especially volume changes being made from the Editor software? I'll make changes from the Editor and save it, click between two presets on the Editor, and everything is fine. Using the footswitches to do the same thing and it ignores the changes I just made. And I recently discovered that if I unplug the power on the POD, and plug it back in, those changes work on the footswitches. ??. This strange preset saving behavior did not exist before the updates. I have not changed my work-flow from the previous way I did it. This makes preset tweaking on the fly very unpredictable and annoying and sometimes downright earsplitting.

Post firmware 2 update, I had this problem althought it appeared to be intermittent - I copied a bank of patches to make a variation on that bank and changed the delay I had to a univibe, selected the patches ,saved to the pod, disconnected from the computer, switched on the effect and got the "SCREECH" at ear splitting level that had been reported, but I had not heard - not at all good with in ear phones. I repeated the proces (of saving to the pod) and this time checked the patch while still connected via usb, and confirmed it was ok. Disconnected again, and this time the delay was still there and no univibe!?
I repeated my steps again a few more times (I think I may even have powered off/on the unit, not sure) and finally it saved correctly and I haven't had a repetition of the problem (yet). Interestingly the screech was barely there (in fact built up slowly from nothing, but still appeared) in patch A (I make the patches increase in volume and crunch from A to D), but ripped my head off in D.
Hopefully this was a one off glitch!
Yes, we really need to be able to trust that once something has been edited and tweaked to our liking, that it stay that way after saving and unplugging from the computer/USB/power. Often the difference between gear I love and gear I hate comes down to trust. Thankfully, I haven't had the screech issue (yet?). I hope they are listening and working on these bugs. I was finally VERY happy with my POD HD500 and my ESP/Variax combo before this last round of updates.

I actualy discover the same issue yesterday with the same setup. Here is a complete description in an other post (a long one!) that I've wrote this morning.
Note that I realize that when you send the patch to the HD500 with HD Edit, the asterix is still there, which is strange since it shall be in the "unchanged" mode.
Line 6, please help us!!! This is VERY anoying!!!
The more I'm using the HD edit (before I was using doing the tweaking directly on the unit), the more I hate it because of this bug! Yesterday, I was working on 5 patches and the issue bugged me a few times! Should I open a ticket for this issue? What's the normal debugging process?
Bump for Line 6 people!
no line6 people will ever read this post (not marked as a question)
I am not sure how related this is but has anyone had problems even changing the name of the patch? I've had no luck solving this thing... I cannot even change the name of the patch in the editor software. Everything just acts very strange.
Make sure you hit the ENTER key to complete the name change. And then SEND SELECTED if you want to save it to the HD device.
No, the problem is that I cannot even highlight and change the name of the preset... I am using Lion 10.7.3 and I am not sure why but I cannot select the name and highight in order to change it, it just freezes the name and stays there in an erratic way. And yes I know how to highlight and change a patch name (it works very well on a macbook pro with Snow Leopard)
I just realized the problem is more in my computer... and not Lion 10.7.3. I tested everything on another 10.7.3 mac machine and it works fine. I am thinking now it might be an issue with the system or even maybe fonts (I am graphic designer and maybe I messed up with some fonts that triggered the issue). I will probably open another post to not hijack this one but if anyone here has any thoughts it would help. thanks.
For what it's worth, I've noticed that it's a bit chancey as to whether I'm able to select a patch name in order to change it also. Sometimes it works fine, other times, it seems to be almost impossible to select the name. I ended up renaming one patch using the POD interface rather than the editing s/w on the computer because I just couldn't get it to select. I'm using Windows XP Pro on a Dell laptop.
for what its worth, from day one I have to manually save patches with the save button even after they've been sent, but have not experienced any of the other issues. Am I supposed to be able to save to the floorboard from Edit?
I also find HD edit to be quirky about saving presets. I explicitly use the Send All, Send Selected, Receive All and Receive Selected buttons when saving presets or retrieving them from the pod into HD edit. As long as I do this, I have no problem.
Hi Teerexness,
I think i have the same problem than you. My presets doesn't seem to be really saved, and I need reboot my pod500 to be sure the presets i use are the one i tweaked. And that's VERY annoying!
Did you find a solution for this?
THanks
Same problem here. Spent all day tweaking presets for a gig, thought I saved them all, but at the gig they were all not the final edits that I made. Also had my variax "lock up" on me and refuse to accept any input from the guitar switches. What's being done about this HD edit issue?
John
