Amp Presets

I have had a the HD500 for a few weeks now and and have noticed that the factory presets for each amp model (both pre amp and full versions) are not that great when listening through my cheap headphones.
I just purchased a DT50 (it should arrive by Friday), and considering that I am not the first person to own this rig, I was wondering if someone can set up the levels to each amp model. In other words, can someone set all of the knobs (bass, treble, pres, drive, INCLUDING CHANNEL VOLUME), so that then I can have a starting point for what sounds great. I know I can then tweak them to my own individual liking.
I would love to be able to flip through each amp model and have everything set in a good way so that I can then start adding effects to it.
Thanks!
Greetings, and welcome, blackhawks! I, too, am a new HD500 owner of just 3 weeks. My headphone experience is opposite yours ... most of the factory presets sound fantastic in my $50 Sony headphones (FAR from good, studio-quality headphones, but the sound from the HD500 is very, very good). You may be encouraged with its capabilities if you could borrow/purchase a decent set of headphones, it might make you feel like the holy grail of good sound from your amp is attainable.
I'm running my HD500 into a Vetta II Combo and/or Vetta Head/Slant 4x12 cabinet. I've YET to get any sounds close to the quality from the headphones ... and was going to post something similar to your question, so thanks for getting this into the air. I'll watch & see what our members with more experience have to say.
Best of fortunes with the 500!
Can someone suggest a good pair of headphones (I am willing to splurge and upwards of $500 or so, but I prefer the most bang for the buck).
Also, I would to have all of the volumes for each patch very similar. That way, I could then just turn up the master volume knob on the HD500 to turn up or down the volume depending on the setting in whihc I am playing.
For my money the Sony MDR7506 are the flattest response headphones, and @ around $99 they're not to hard on the wallet either.
I've used these for years in recording and building patches, and the tones I've built with them usually need very little tweaking when I take them to the stage. You have to be careful with even the higher end headphones, because so many of them try to maximize the bass response. Especially when you are playing through a FRFR system like a keyboard amp or a powered monitor with a horn, you want to build your tones through headphones with as flat a response as possible. Kinda like head worn studio reference monitors.
Hope that helps.
