PowerPC Mac Support

Due to the rather annoying issue that Logic Studio/Pro is only Mac now, and I work with Mac users I must use a Mac.

However the Mac I have is a PPC based machine. Even though it is technically possible to write software for it, manufacturers have dropped PPC like a hot potato.

Does anyone know of software that will run on PPC machines and allow Gearbox style control over everything?

you can use gearbox from here.... you just need to get the right drivers (4.7.1 i think) and install gearbox...
only thing you can't do is authorize any licenses or use any features etc that require new drivers...
you can do an offline activation of pod farm 2.0 and 1.x (not 2.5!!), but you can't use monkey.

  I will experiment! I hope not too much is lost. Need to make sure the X3 Live works well as an input card for the mac. Which will leave the audiowerks card alone for more.

    Logic 9 crashes when trying to read the drivers. This is no good.

      Logic 9 also doesn't see the x3 live or the suggested drivers.

        it's really no longer supported... but you can make it work... i've done it personally....
        i don't think i was using logic nine.. an older version probably... but only to try it out... i used ableton and reaper as my primary DAWS.
        if you're a PPC user, unfortunately apple left you high and dry... and you have to work with what they left you....
        which is why i'm pretty much a PC guy these days.

        i'd agree, but i develop too. There is no need to drop PPC support if you're not an OS developer. Yes apple have ditched the RISC development for PPC related things, but that is nothing to do with Line6 dropping support, it's just they can't be bothered!

        Have installed recommendations, but Logic still doesn't pick up on x3 live and gearbox states "Tone transfer failed" with "reason: (code 80000000) and unknown error occurred"
