Usable DT25 volume?

I was just wondering how loud the amp has to get in order to take advantage of the tube gain from the power stage. I know I'm a freak, but I really don't enjoy playing my guitar super loud, but the DT25 being only 25w has me intrigued. Especially paired with my HD500. I know that it has a low volume mode, but that removes the actual tube power section for modelling, which kind of defeats the point of getting a tube amp Might as well just run the HD500 direct like I am now.
Can you get good tone at a reasonable level, or does it need to get pretty loud to hit it's sweet spot? In other words, if my wife was home watching TV downstairs, would I get yelled at for making my guitar sound good? ![]()
I haven't gotten my DT-25 yet, but generally, 25W of tube power is still pretty loud. I suspect that the For comparison, a Fender Deluxe Reverb is rated at 22W, and to get it to the point where the power tubes are really working, it's a bit louder than I'd play in my house typically.
LVM doesn't remove the tube power amp...just scales it to 12 watts AB...It actually saturates pretty nicely in that mode...
Hmm, that's great news then! All the reviews I read said that it switched to modeling in that mode, so I'm glad they were wrong!
Well, it depends on what you are referring to I guess....
If you mean the XLR output, then yes the tubes are removed from the XLR output and becomes fully modelled in LVM....
But the amp powering the speaker is always a tube power amp...just scaled in LVM mode....
Stay in the mix and in the know.
