M5 or M9 with an XT Live?

I want to get the Smart Harmony integrated into my current XT Live, not sure how best to do so.
I once had a Boss PS5, which sounded great in the loop of a regular amp, but when I had it in front of my XT Live, it sounded compressed & squishy.
If I were to add an M5 or M9 to be used with my XT Live, would it be best to place it before, or after the XT Live?
I would have presets specific to each song, with the XT Live sending a midi signal to the M5 or M9.
Any experience/thoughts/councel?
Probably after the PODxt Live... it sounds like you'll be using it more for time-based effects as opposed to any sort of gain/filters. Output the PODxt Live into the M5 or M9 and see if you like the sound of the Smart Harmony or PItch Glide effect there.
I already have Digitech Whammy pedal, so I'm just looking for "Poor Man's Eventide H3000".
Thanks, I'll have give it a try. I did it once when I had a Boss PS5 and it was all compressed & squishy thin sounding, perhaps this one is better.
i'd go for the M9 for the looper alone... that and the extra effects would be a bonus...
Stay in the mix and in the know.
