The manual is installed on your computer when you install either GearBox or POD Farm software.

The DI is to pass the input signal (of your guitar's pickup) unaffected to a real guitar amp, if you wish to have that sonic option. They can then put a mic on the speaker of a real tube amp and record that while you also have a tone setup in GearBox or POD Farm during the same performance on your guitar.
