Cooperation between HD500 + UX2

I just dropped the hammer on buying an HD500; should be here in about a week. After scouring the interwebz for days, the best deal I could find was $499 for the HD and a gig bag. I wasn't happy to find that I'd missed the HelloMusic deal for $375. But the unit should be here in about a week and, in the meantime, it seems I have a LOT of reading to do: Guides, Manuals, and a host of posts throughout this site starting with the collection of stickies.

Anyway, I currently use the UX2 with my computer and I've just been reading in another thread that the 500 (when connected via USB) becomes an external sound card much like the UX2.

Since I'll be doing a lot of work with the HD Editor to build and store tones for use in a live environment, I'll obviously need the USB connection. Does this mean I need to unplug the UX2 and run my system speakers directly from the HD? Can I USB the 500 into the computer and still use the UX2 as the sound card? Will I need to 1/4 out from the 500 into the UX2 to hear what I'm playing along with the USB connection to edit the 500? Would that even work? Will I constantly be having to pull up my computer's audio settings (Win 7 Pro) to switch sound card selection every time I plug in the 500?

Thanks in advance.

I use both at the same time with HD500 Edit and GearBox running using a Sony VGN AR630E with 2GB Ram, 2 Ghz processor, Core 2 Duo, Windows 7. You can also just run Gearbox(UX2) into AUX on HD500, sure there are other ways also. I've also re-amped using Gearbox to record HD500 out of my SpiderJam. Works good for me but I'm no expert musician just play here at home.
