Pocket Pod: cab emulation

Hi everyone,

 

I use my Pocket Pod connected to the instrument input on a 1x12 SS amp (open back) and edit my presets using Vyzex editor.

 

This being said, is it "mandatory" to use the CAB EMULATION to get "the real sound"

 

or

 

CAB EMULATION is for mainly for DIRECT MODE?
