How to set up UX2 and HD 500?

What is the best method to use my UX2 as my sound card and use the HD500 for guitar tones to record in my DAW?
I notice the UX2 only has spdif out...so that's apparently not an option for the connection.
Thanks for any help.
Just use the HD500 direct via USB as your sound card when recording guitar.
You can not run both devices via USB simultaneously.
You could run the HD500 analog outs into the Line In's of the UX2. But this method would not be preferred as it would introduce an extra, unnecessary A/D conversion.
Is there a special reason you would want to use the UX2 exclusively as the sound card?
The reason I was choosing the UX2 is it has a better input selection. I was hoping not to go to the trouble of switching back and forth...in some cases it requires a restart of the computer or restart of the DAW to switch sound cards.
Yeah, you definitely do not want to switch them out with your DAW open.
That's a pain if you have to reboot. I haven't had that issue yet. If I close my DAW first, I never had to reboot my PC when swaping out devices. I may have to refresh a browser though.

This is how I route my keyboard to my DAW.
I might switch to my ProFire610 and use the spdif, this might be my best option.
I see too that Studio One V2 and Reaper do not require a reboot to switch sound cards. I could hook up my monitors to both the UX2 and HD500 so I don't have to switch monitor cables when I switch sound cards??
Guess I'll playground with both and see.
Thanks
I've crashed Reaper a few times buy unplugging an ASIO device.
You might consider getting a mixer. That way you never have to swap out chords for your monitors.
But before I got a mixer I did have both analog a digital connections to my momnitors to toggle between them.
Yeah, no mixers though. Just don't want the clutter since I am so accustomed to all in the box.
Have you run the 500 through a spdif on a sound card? Was it any better/ worse than any other config?
Thanks
I have run the HD Bean's s/pdif directly to my monitors, could not tell the difference from analog from my mixer.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
