HD Desktop Volume dips when connecting

Greetings!
Question for the savvy. I recently started connecting my POD HD Desktop to my Focusrite Saffire via SPDIF and it sounds great. However if I connect the USB cable to my HD Desktop to make some tone edits while the SPDIF is connected the volume drops like 10db almost. I dont even have to open HD Edit for this to happen, just plug in the USB
Anyone know why?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm wondering if this is a common occurance and if there is anyway to avoid it.
Try running the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices control panel item. There is a slider there that allows you to control the volume level of the device when connected by USB. This is generally used to balance levels between computer-generated audio (e.g. mp3 backing track) and your guitar jam-along using the HD device.
Silverhead.
Thanks for your input. I am well aware of the Audio/Asio control panel.
However why should I have to? This seems like a design flaw. Here is the scenario.
I turn on my POD, Turn on my Saffire Audio Interface. The two are connected via SPDIF @96Khz and obviously the POD is the master clock.
I fire up my DAW (happens to be reaper) and get to recording guitar tracks.
I then decide I want to make a custom patch.. so I plug in the USB to the POD and instantly the SPDIF output drops up to -10db. Unplug USB and it go back to normal.
Im wondering if this is only my experience, if other users have seen this issue and if it is expected and/or can be corrected.
Any help would be appreciated. Perhaps someone could test this who has a similiar setup to me.
Thanks.
Just bumping this back up. Could someone at least try this for me and see if they get similiar results?
You won't get many replies if you won't try solutions offered previously. Instead, you want to claim a design flaw. Not criticizing, just explaining why no one may be answering.
+1
drid05 - you've told us that you are aware of the control panel, but you haven't told us whether you can use it to succesfully address your issue. If so, then the only issue is that you feel that this is a design flaw. Here is where you can provide your product feedback:
Are you aware of the setting in the menu that can add 18 dB when connected? I'm not, but I've heard that referred to in other threads as being on and causing distortion. Since the new drivers have been released, it turns off the 18dB boost by default. Maybe all you need is to turn this on? FWIW
The issue appears to be that I had my hardware monitor level set to the halfway position in the Line 6 Audio control panel.. So it was taking over whenever I plugged in USB. I adjusted it to MAX, which appears to be the same as the SPDIF S/P Level of 0dB.
Thanks for the feedback. Love this site!
Good! Glad to hear things are working for you.
