Any good free drum machines for PC?

I am looking for a drum machine for my pc I can jam with that is free

Or atl east free to try

I use Hydrogen: developed for linux but also available for windows/macOS

    you make them for the most part... you asked for a drum machine not a rythym generator...
    hydrogen is nice... i just wish they would allow its use as a VST also.

        you can download some drumkits etc with hydrogen... so you can probably download some midi files to have that instant rythym... but its pretty easy to get a basic pattern down on it....
        
        you might just try riffworks T4: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/T4/
        
        its free.... and you can get a rythym going with a few clicks... record loops etc... its a pretty fun program.

If you want a free drummachine that comes with various patterns try the Percumat 2 (VST). You can create your own patterns, but there are also >100 patterns included ready to use..

  sounds interesting enough.. but there is no download link... the link on that page takes you to a list of available programs which do not show the percumat downlad.

      it's a vst... meant to work within your DAW, etc...
      probably a bit more complicated than you need at the moment...
      sorry... wasn't I that suggested it... i just went looking for it like you did....

        ugh.... ditch audacity... it's reverse engineered freeware... nice enough for free... but not worth the bother....
        try reaper http://reaper.fm 100% free to try... will work forever (just a nag screen when you start) but buying a license to support it is only @50$ i think you'll see the value in it quickly.

U are meant to purchase a licence (approx $£30) but there is a way around it. When exporting your finished drumtrack just set it to export as separate wav files. This way u can import all seperate files (kick,snare,toms) into your DAW but just leave out the unregistered wav which is a random tom hit. (try it and u will see what i mean
Also forget what people say about Audacity! I have used many different DAW`s and find Audacity by far the easiest to use.

  it's easy enough to use... and it's free...
  but it's really not good dude...
  at the end of the day its what you are used to...
  and if you're used to dealing with the workarounds etc...
  you can make audacity work for you and it will be fine...
  as long as you've never used a high quality daw you'll not know any better.
  besides... most people would rather have better results... over "easy to use"

    +1 to TheRealZap. Another thing with Audacity, unless they have changed it recently, you cant use the Line6 ASIO drivers - my understanding is that you have to use ASIO4ALL, which granted is also free but it isnt as good as the Line6 ASIO drivers (As I said they may have changed this recently).
    
    I use Reaper (paid for I might add) and it is excellent. If you want simple to use you could also try Mixcraft (V6 has just been released). Again very cheap (full 14 day trial - you can carry on using it after 14 days with some features knobbled). It costs $75 but there is a variety of payment options. It really is worth looking at.

      From what I understand: it is possible to get proper ASIO into Audacity but you have to compile it in from the source yourself ... the licensing for ASIO means that the Audacity developers arent allowed to do it themselves. AFAIK Steinberg still has the IPO andthough the source is available widely it is not on an open licence model.

      Audacity picks up the line 6 no problem
      
      I used to have Cubase le but gave it away it was too hard for me to use
      
      Now I have redownloaded reaper
      When I get the time I will see if their is a VST drum machine for it

        reaper used to have a demo of ezdrummer as part of it...
        if you want a VST drum machine though... check out mdrummer also they have a free version.
        i use all the toontrack stuff myself as it works best for me.
