pod farm PLUG-IN won't recognize x3 live, Cubase 4

I'm NOT trying to use farm as a standalone app.
I've been using gearbox, monkey etc successfully for some time now(though never tryed as a plug-in, hmm....) Today I installed 1.11 with every other driver etc. checked as well. Pod Farm shows up as insert in Cubase 4, but doesn't recognize my x3 live. I haven't tried to update it through monkey since it's on my studio computer which isn't internet capable. Is it necessary to update through monkey?
Is it possible to activate it on my laptop with monkey, then copy some system file somewhere and transfer it to the studio computer?
Any other suggestions?
well I found this: http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-4738
though it doesn't mention Farm specifically, it sounds like it should work as far as activating goes. Still not sure activation is my problem. In my mind, the presence of the x3 live itself should be the activation, ipso facto, like a dongle. I feel like I'm having to activate a dongle, which just doesn't seem to make sense.

FYI.... Gearbox plugin is not compatible with the X3. Don't bother trying it.
You do have to authorize the POD X3 via internet using Line 6 Monkey. This creates a local file on that particular machine which is necessarily for the X3 to function as a "dongle" for POD Farm Plug-In during instantiation with a host DAW. The document you found is a workaround method for users who feel strongly about transferring asset files from an Online machine to an Offline machine.
However, one important requirement for our POD X3 USB devices is that it requires a true USB 2.0 port connection, whereas our other devices do not. If you're connecting the X3 to a USB port that isn't a known-good USB 2.0 port, the software will not recognize your X3 correctly, thus indicating to you that no valid hardware device is available.
I am having the same issue. My Gearbox recognized my x3 live and I was using it, but when I updated Pod Farm, I can no longer use Gearbox and Farm does not recognize my x3 Live. My device mangager says my USB driver is Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller. How do I know whether or not my USB is 2.0?
This may be the wrong thread and way off, and if so, I apologize.
I installed Pod Farm this weekend and it would not recognize my X3 bean. I did not have Gearbox opened at the time. It occured to me as I read about everyone's problems, that I was using Pod Farm as an app not as a front end/plugin. In theory, if I have Gearbox and Pod Farm opened at the same time, the X3 will be recoginzed and everything should work as advertised?
Thanks again.
POD Farm and Gearbox should both work as advertised, at the same time if you wish - POD Farm as the plugin and Gearbox standalone.
Thanks, I'll give it a go tonight.
