Hi, looking at a black JTV-59 (not US) i use a pod HD500 should i go for it or should i wait for summit better.

I can't respond for others, but I've had ny 59 for about 2 months. It has quickly become my #1, beating out my Am Dlx HSS Strat, and my Les Paul Studio. It has good feel and finish, sounds great, and the versatility is amazing.
awesome, thanks for that, you hear so many bad tales, i have a musicman axis i use at the moment via the hd500 and its great, the addition of the JTV-59 would i think make a great guitar setup
if the 59 shape fits your style... the build and feel is great. the only reason i'd get rid of mine is to get another one!
I love mine. I put nickel covers on the pups and locking tuners too. Neck is chunkier than the 69, but if you're ok with that go for it. I have the HD500 too and they are a great match.
Thanks everyone, got a black JTV-59 yesterday, sounds great, looks awesome, play's very nice, the neck is not what im used to but i don't see it being an issue, loved the initial acoustic sounds (that's why i got it) looking forward to plugging it in to the HD500 and having a good long session on it.
is it wrong to feel guilt as i put my axis in its case ...... LOL
Delighted to hear this. just ordered my black JTV-59 today.... ![]()

My guilt is overwhelming. I've sold my LP Studio, and my HSS Strat glares at me forelornly from it's wall mount. G/L with your 59. Sounds awesome. I went for the CherryBurst, but the black was really calling to me in a big way. My wife's vote won. lol
I've had my Tobacco Sunburst 59 for a year & 2 months, now, and my spare Epi LP Classic sits on the stand waiting for a string to break on the 59... So far, no luck for it... My 73 Tele Deluxe & 78 Strat are sitting home when I gig, now, as well as my Ovation Acoustic Electric... I'm sure they're jealous....
I love the look, feel & sound of the 59. I had the 3-way switch issue #2 (mine was the one they found out about the flux on the replacement switches), and also a piezo problem, but L6 came through on those problems and it's been solid as a rock ever since. Rich Renken was my biggest help -- he's moved on to persue a mixing business. I have not heard of these issues popping up for quite a while, so think they've gotten the kinks worked out now, in their manufacturing process.
I love the sound of the mags they have on the unit and probably use them the vast majority of the time. I use the models when I need a down tune for a specific song, or need a strat sound for a specific sound. I am now using and tweaking the POD HD-500 -- the combination is well worth the rather steep learning curve, but I do like the control and tuning capabilities of it over my trusty POD X3L.

Hi all, well a couple of days in with the JTV-59, what an awesome guitar.....
neck is great, sounds awesome, all firmware updates done :-)
working on acoustic sounds etc love the tele and strat sounds only real shame (i thought) was that i cant coil tap the mag pickups, then i kicked myself, DOH!
LOL
my poor musicman axis is in its case at the moment :-(
I actually held off purchasing my original vax 700 because I had a Parker Nightfly, Gibson Les Paul and a great washburn acoustic. And then one of the peizo's went on the parker and I needed something with a strat setup for a gig. So i picked up a red vax 700 and never looked back. I then purchased a VAC 700 for better acoustic sounds and then went on to the JTV 59 which I have had for 6 months. I haven't even picked up the VAC 700 since.
Now just wait until you pair it up with the HD500 via the vdi. Now you have the capability of using the variax emulation and the mag pickups at the same time!
Stay in the mix and in the know.
