How to get octave +1/-1 harmony on Pod HD500?

can some one please answer
I believe you would use the pitchglide/whammy effect and set it at a static +/- 12 for up/down an octave and mix to taste.
that's what I do for a straight pitch shift tone. There's also the octave pitch shift effect, and some octave-related effects in other categories like the octavia fuzz distortion and i think a delay has an octave shift.
Just in case the OP was referring to simultaneously having a +1 AND a -1 octave harmony... You can do this by splitting your signal in between the amp and the mixer, and placing two pitch glides, one in each channel. Set one to +12, the other to -12. Set mix to 50% for both (or whatever suits you). You should now hear 3 notes: the one you are playing, one +1 8ve, and one -1 8ve.
What i'm trying to achieve is the effect in the song Fury by Muse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oUZHDdXrgA
He uses a digitech whammy 4 on a +1/-1 octave harmony setting and moves the whammy pedal up and down continuously
Now i did understand that in the pod to get a harmony with out the key thing i have to set the pitch glide in static position i.e (not assigned to exp 1 and 2)
but should i add another pitch glide in the chain in order to move in between the +1 and -1 octave?
i've listened to the clip and a couple things stand out to me. It sounds like there's more than one guitar, or the bass is quite distorted. Listen to the intro/bridge. He's got what sounds like whammy AND wah going on in the lead line while the fuzzy rhythm tone is playing underneath.
For the lead tone, I would use the whammy as jim demonstrates below, but use 50% min and 75% max on the exp pedal. So you go from unison to +1 octave. I would also put a wah pedal in the chain and set that to 0% min and 100% max using the same EXP controller. IE - assign them both to EXP-1 or EXP-2. The mix on the pitch glide should be 100%.
The main rhythm tone during sounds like a heavy fuzz distortion with a -1 octave in front of it, mix at 50%. There's a few things to try out. I'd start with the sub-octave fuzz distortion. That might be all you need. Otherwise, I'd try a pitch glide set to -12 with mix at 50% and not have it controlled by the exp pedal into a fuzz distortion or Overdrive distortion. If it's not fuzzy enough, try boosting bass in front the fuzz via an EQ effect.
can someone please help me
Try ...
You will have to adjust the Minimum and Maximum parameters .... probably to around 25% and 75% to get your two octave sweep. Suggest a little reverb or delay may help too.
In the early part of the song it sounds like some of his signal is being fed off to another amps also so you get the dry signal in the mix. You could play with the Mix level (maybe around 75 - 80%) and see whether having some dry in there helps also.
Yep, this.
I would suggest to the OP (hamza4best) to be a LOT more patient when asking questions on the forum. Posting "can someone please help me" repeatedly is redundant and annoying. It's not like this forum is so active that your thread is getting buried.
+1 - OP, don't bump your thread 18 MINUTES after creating it. Don't act like this is Line 6's customer service center - it's a forum - almost everyone here is helping others simply because they want to help them, not because they're being paid to do so. Treating them like they're paid employees will motivate them to not help you. Also, the issue you want answered is far different from your initial post. It'd be helpful to put all the details in your original post before making a post then trying to bump it.
I tried it didn't sound quite right.
My simple question is how can i get theoctave +12/-12 harmony setting just like in digitech whammy 4.
The only reason i was "bumping" it was because i asked another question a while back and no one answered i thought maybe it got over looked. It doesn't mean i'm being rude or anything.
I appreciate what everyone does in this forum to help eachother ![]()
What is it that does not sound right?
check my post above. i don't think it's a -1 octave to +1 octave sweep he's using. I think he's got a unison to +1 octave 100% mix PLUS wah going on for the lead stuff, a fixed +1 octave mix 50% for the chorus, and a -1 octave 50% mix fuzz tone for the rhythms. i don't think there's any harmony on the lead part from him - it's either a backing track or another guitarist or distorted bass.
Dammit ... we are gonna need Matt Bellamy on this thread. ...... MATT ..... !!!
the chorus and the verse sound fine but the intro thing and the solo that don't sound fine. There isn't any other guitar, the bassist is using a distorted sound
From muselive i did find this:
there are many ideas on how to achieve the intro/solo effect for fury, but what I can hear (2007-2008 ) is matt using the sustainer on his manson's (seattle in specific i think?) with slight delay, and the octave +1/-1 harmony setting on the whammy. matt achieves the "dragging" sound via moving the treadle between each of the octaves whilst sustaining. creates some crazy, weird but ace sounds. fury in the studio i'd guess was also the octave +1/-1 harmony on the whammy but not sustained

isn't the harmony necessary? or by just setting the pitch glide on a +12 and -12 octave should help?
Why don't you try it out and see if you like it? Then come back and tell us if you need anything more.
