Amp Parameter not loaded from Preset

hi again!
After playing around with several versions of HD Edit Software, i've noticed, that sometimes (almost always) the amp parameter are not loaded correctly from a preset (Even if i'm sure they get correctly saved there). I wonder if anyone here already noticed that or if it's a known bug?!
I can attach example files, but this behavior is always reproducible for me.
My System is a Mac OS X 10.7.4, but I've tested on a Windows 7 too.
I don't have this kind of problem. Maybe some of your presets are faulty.
Please try to config and save amp parameters from a NEW TONE file.
I hope after firmware update you have done global / factory reset and have chosen NOT to keep your old presets, so your new tones have right format?
Please use only newest firmware with newest editor and driver, and don't mix, because this might damage preset files. I remember some problems with a former version.
hey!
Thats exactly what i did. I've the newest software installed, starting from a new preset, modify Sag, Hum, Bias, save that file. Now when i open the file, the Potis are not correctly restored (exactly as written above). I've also connected my HD Bean, because i thought, maybe it's just a illustration issue in the Edit Software, but the POD gets same wrong values.
You think, there might be a problem, that i have multiple versions installed (i.e. HD Desktop / 300 / 500)?! I'll get different box here, install only one version, and try there again. I can't think of any much more that could interfere.
Edit:
Okay, i've made a quick video for demonstration: http://youtu.be/Su3xWc-40qI
It's wired, because i've the same behavior on a windows 7 and on my OS X. Thats already two configurations, and there is almost nothing installed on that windows 7.
Edit2:
I've tested with just one version of the Edit Software installed as well, same result. I've uploaded my broken presets, but i don't think that will help, since as i've said above, the values get saved there, i assume: http://www.jzab.de/line6/
Hey johanneszab,
I have watched your video and understand now what you are doing:
You are working in OFFLINE mode, which I normally don't do. Then you change the parameters virtually and save it as SINGE PRESET file. Finally you reload this file to another place.
I will test it later when I come home.
Okay, thanks! That would be nice, ..
Maybe i should have expressed more clearly that it's truly file based.. I've actually also never used the offline mode that extensively untill i've started playing around with the presets itself. But there is no difference when my hd bean is connected. I'm sure they are saved corretly on the unit itself if you modify them. As i said above, i think it's a software bug (presets do change when modify amp settings), if someone else can reproduce this.
But anyway, that means any preset i'm going to download from the custome tone website has improper amp settings. I've just tested a few. They all had the same amp parameter, ..
If you have a HD 500 that only happens here at me at a dual amp preset for the second amp as i've said above. Thanks in advance for testing!
Okay johanneszab.
For you I have tested the following on my Windows 7 x64 PC:
Because I own an HD500 I already have had HD 500 EDIT v2.00 installed. This software works fine concerning your issue. You can try it! ![]()
Only for you I have downloaded and installed POD HD EDIT v2.00 which you are using (for desktop / bean).
What can I say: You are absolutely right: You have found a software bug! ![]()
HD EDIT v2.00 for bean has got problems with parameter recovery!
Please report it to Line6 here:
http://line6.com/company/contact/productfeedback/
(Don't worry, it makes no problem to have HD EDIT and HD 500 EDIT installed at the same time. I meant it might be a problem to save a preset with an older version of HD Edit like v1.00 having a newer firmware installed at the unit, or something like this).
Maybe someone else here is willing to give it a try too, then we can open a support ticket, i guess. Better if more people try it. Those 2-3 days don't matter, i guess
.
Thanks for testing!
Strange, if tested a bit more because you've said the HD 500 software worked for you.
I've found a few HD 500 presets on my disk that gets restored correctly. If i do modify the amp paramter in that file, they get saved correctly and the software restores them (in the file it states it has been created with version 1.20).
If i start a new one or load some other random preset, the second amp row always saves all the parameter to zero and restores them with zero. That happens again on a Mac OS X and Windows 7 System, ..
I can't see a connection in that. Line6 should fix it though, if it is a bug, because this undermines the whole preset chainging and community idea, ..
I've also tested my HD 300 and HD 400 software, they behave exactly like mine HD Desktop software (Value set to 50%, except Master randomly).
I still wish some more people here could try :/. It takes like 2 mins maximum, Simply save a file and load it again
.
Just to let you know, i've opened a bug report and got a quick respond from a Line6 employee, thanks for that!
They could reproduce my findings and figured out, that this only happens in the Offline Mode. They seem not to be sure whether it is a limitation between the software and hardware communication or bug itself, ..
So, it seems to affect all versions, but for me, it is okay, since it won't happen with a connected device. So most people probably won't ever notice it.
I stated that it still seems weird that an offline mode needs a connected device for proper saving and loading a preset. But still, since you cannot hear and test your settings during that mode, saving is most likely useless anyways, ..
mazuwa, thanks for testing. I think we can close this!
I am having the same sort of issue but it is with a delay setting. I have a delay set for a dotted 1/8th note feel for an Edge type of delay. When I load another patch and reload the dotted 8th note patch, I have to retap the tempo because it goes back to 1/4. Very annoying. Also, I am using a patch where I have a midi expression pedal through a Ground Control Pro. I have it set so that when I have toe down on the exp, I have it set to mix in alot of reverb and alot of delay. Toe up and it is just a touch of delay and reverb. The problem again is when I go from another patch and back, sound is full on reverb and delay as if my exp pedal is toe down even though my midi pedal is toe up!
Don't mean to hijack your thread but it appears to be sort of the same thing going on I belelive.
Edit: I should of mentioned that I am using POD HD Pro Edit. ![]()
