What does the tone knob when Acoustic Models are selected?

I thought that the Workbench help manual or the Tyler Variax manual would tell me this, but I cannot find it:
What does the tone knob do when I choose an Acoustic 6-string or 12-string model?

For the acoustic models, the tone knob changes the virtual "microphone placement," such as how you can mic' a real acoustic in different positions. Also, new with version 1.82, they have added a feature that the top range of the tone knob reduces the ambience or "roominess" of the acoustic models. Back the tone knob off a little, and the ambience returns.
As you go from 0 to 10 on the tone knob for acoustic models it simulates placement of a mic over the sound hole moving towards the fretboard. So with the knob turned all the way down it is a bassier or warmer sound and as you turn the knob, it gets more treble or a brighter tone. By the way, if you find a tone knob setting you particularly like for an acoustic preset. You can save it on the 3rd page of Line 6 Edit along with your JTV acoustic selected. And, yes, with the latest firmware- turning the knob all the way up decreases the room ambience.
As far as I'm concerned. I wish that they would get rid of the ambience totally and let the tone knob just be mic placement. I've been an audio engineer forever and I can't remember even one instance of these acoustic sounds being correct for the track that I was working on. I'm shooting for another update....Until then, I'm going to use my Acoustic 700. The sounds are much...much better.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
