Hello!
Are the 4 monitors out stereo? I saw in the spectifications that they're balanced XLR but nothing about using it with in ears monitors?
for shorts, can we have 4 stereo independant mix for musicians (4 in ears monitors) + 2 buss mix for FOH?
Thanks
I don't have this gear and can't answer your question, but I am very curious what the correct answer will be.
I have a question to clarify what you are asking if you don't mind giving a bit more detail to your question?
Which speaker are you referring to? The L3T or L3M?
And the XLR outs on the panel, are they the L6 Link outs or just plain audio XLR outs you are asking about? If it is the audio XLR out, I would guess that they are not stereo, but mono for daisy chaining speakers together since they are all powered internally.
The monitor outs are mono in the M20d mixer.
A lot a bands now make rehearsal on headphones or in ears and try to get the same comfort on stage...
This product is (like all line6 products) avant gardiste...
Touchscreen, controllable via ipad, ergonomic, auto sens, etc...
BUT you have to remain on mono wedge monitors!!!!! Guys... Seriously...
The latest firmware update supports stereo monitors.
Too bad for me the word mixer was left out of the question or I could have gotten the correct answer. But the Aux/Monitor outs are always mono.
yeah ... trick question![]()
That's a bit of a bummer. I was thinking about buying the box and running in-ears as monitors for the band. Running a dual tone POD preset, I sure was looking forward to getting some stereo panning in my ears to make the playing experience more enjoyable. I'm guessing this has to be a hardware issue and can't be fixed by a software update right? Would Line6 have been smart enough to put stereo jacks in the box in anticipation of a future upgrade? Heck, why can't we monitor out of the monitor jacks exactly what's being put out by the mains, and THEN tailor as we personally want? This definitely makes sense to me. What a real disappointment. Somebody (from Line 6) please tell me this can be fixed in a software update and that you've built in the functionality.
This option can be provided by a software update and we are looking into this. If you have the monitor sends linked the monitor outs put out the same mix as the mains.
We just have to change the sends from being two levels to a level/ pan configuration.
At the moment you can set the Monitor Outputs up for stereo InEars. It works like you would do it on most mixers. Use two monitor outputs and send the input channel to both. To send a stereo source you have to use two panned mono inputs and send one to the left and one to the right side.
It would be good if a software update made the 4 Aux stereo because I think although Line6 did many things right with the M20D they forgot something here - More and more musicians stop using mono wedges and now use stereo in-ear systems.
So did i got it right:
If I use two Monitor outs as a stereo Output and want there a stereo Input Signal, i can not use the grat link feature which links 2 inputs to one encoder.
And as i see, there is also no way to geht the inputs 17/18 and 19/20 as stereo to this two Monitor outs.
It woud be great, if there will be with the one of the next SW updates the oppertunity to Link two Monitor outs to a Stereo out (additional to the Main out). And the SW then automaticaly handle the Pan/Balance as it is set up in each Input. So it will be also possible to get the stereo Out from the FX to this Linked Stereo Monitor out, for example for delayed Speakers far away from the Stage. Or dosent make this sense?
Shoud I write this down as an official feature request here:

or hase Line6 this already in plan? Arne worte that they are looking into something like this.
Or, if all you want is the stereo FOH mix on your ears, you could just get an Y cable (Stereo jack to 2 mono jacks) and take the signal out of the Phones connection on the M20d
OK, thanks for the replies. Looks like there are some options to work with. Ideally, what I'd like is the four monitor outs to support a stereo mix. There will be three guys in this new band and I'm sure everyone wants their own mix... Just my .002...
Why can't you just use the iem I mono?
IEMs in stereo sound much better.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
