New Driver?

So, I'm running Logic studio on a PowerMac G5 2ghz 2.5GB of ram. I have the TonePort UX1 and am having the hardest time getting it going. My room mate hooked it up to his HP and it worked fine... and so I know It's got to work for my set up. I've changed the settings in the audio/midi control panel and at first I thought it worked. I was getting sound out of the PA speakers hooked up to the Line6 via 1/4" until I selected "multichanel." Now, NO MATTER what I do... (I've changed the settings back to stereo) I get absolutely nothing.

Could this mean I need a new USB driver? And if so... I'm clueless.

I already downloaded and installed the "Line 6 Audio-MIDI Driver 3.7.0..." but nothing new. Help help help.

Thanks for ALL the answers. y'all rock

    Re: New Driver?

i'm not sure if that's the right driver... as it's not called that in windows. i would uninstall ALL your line6 software then start again.

download the POD Farm installer from http://line6.com/software/ that includes the drivers.  on the correct page during the install select to install the UX1 drivers.  after that use the line6 monkey software that should also have been installed as it may need to authorise yoiur device.  it will say in red when you open monkey if you need to.

now run POD Farm standablone, connect your speakers to the analog outputs of your UX1, and then play something... do you get sound??

ok, now you need to leave POD Farm standalone running (as without this your UX1 is disabled) now run logic, and then select the audio inputs in there, either send1&2 or 3&4 which you can change what they do on the mixer tab in POD Farm.

does that work? if not tell me what happened at each stage.

    Re: New Driver?

Hi Rowbi..If you don't know about Macs you shouldn't try to help..I see no reason at all for the standalone version to have to be running for use with Logic..

After you instal everything so it is up to date..As Rowbi said you should be able to launch it as a standalone item..For Logic or for standalone you will need to go to App.s/Utilities/audiomidi..Select the ux1 as your input and output for audio..Kepp the system output selected as built in output..In Logics pref.s select the ux1 as the audio device..Then create a mono audio track and select the I/O as input 1...Then in the inserts select podfarm and arm the track...Keep in mind the UX1 is now your audio card so to hear Logic you will need to use eother headphones or take the output of the UX into your monitoring system...Also in the audio pref.s page of Logic make sure software monitoring is checked...

I don't have a UX I use a Presonus with an X3 as a dongle...I also don't have the option for standalone use of PF,due to the X3 not being one of the so-called authorized devices...Go figure..I paid a few times more for the X3 than you did for the UX yet L6 doesn't allow me to use it as such.....JON

Also wetdog..Can you define what you mean by multi channel...I'm lost on that one...I'm lost most of the time anyway, but just curious..

    Re: New Driver?

    Hi,

Actually based on the licenses on your account, you cannot run POD Farm as a plugin from Logic. You would need to purchase the plugin license and install it to your TonePort UX1.

That being said, you will need to have POD Farm running in standalone to get any modeled tone. When you do not, you will still be able to input dry signal to Logic. See the 'Inputs & Recording' tab in the Line 6 Audio MIDI Devices in your system preferences. The record sends tell you which inputs to select on your Logic audio track. This changes with POD Farm / GearBox open or with a different source as well.

    Thanks

    Re: New Driver?

Hi..Sorry to hear or rather read this..You must have one of the red faced units...You probably paid the same price as people buying the new blackfaced one today..Here's were it begins to SUCK...Line6 in someway feels you are not entitled to the podfarm plugin for free...Most likely due to you being an early user...You know the kind..The ones that go out on a limb and are one of the reasons the company is stil in bussiness today...They buy a new product and are rewarded by being screwed down the road of time......Sorry Line6..But you have to call them as thay are here...

Is it worth it ?? That's up to you..If you love the tones..Then yeah...BUT..What does $50 get you?? Platinum or just the basic PF.???  Line6 used to have a FAQ sheet which explained all Of this..They took it down quite a while ago and since then mayhem has been the way stuff flows...It would actually define what was needed for each piece of hardware...And if an additional fee was needed to get PF as a plugin or as standalone...In my wildest dreams..I have NO idea what their reasoning was behind doing such an absolutely moronic thing...

It should work in theory if you buy...But know in advance what it is you are paying for...JON

    Re: New Driver?

    Hi,

The older Toneport models (red face plate) did not come bundled with the POD Farm plugin as POD Farm had not been developed at the time of their release. The new POD Studio (black face) TonePorts do come bundled with the POD Farm plugin.

If you want to use POD Farm as a plugin you'll need to purchase the key for it. If your using Logic 7 or 8 then the plugin will work fine.

    Re: New Driver?

    Hi,

Again, you will need to purchase the POD Farm plugin license - $50 for UX1, that is right.

For a bit of piece of mind, remember if for any reason you have issues running it, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return it (does not apply to the iLok license).

    Thanks
