Line 6 Spider (III) settings - Modern Metal, Hard Rock and Punk Rock

This is a new thread specifically for Modern metal, hard rock and punk rock.

Feel free to share the settings you use, and tips on how to get that killer tone.

P.S. no band slagging - everyone is free to leave their settings as long as it comes under the headings. I may make other posts for other types of music when I get more time.

Also, if needed, requests can be entered for anyone who is really struggling for their favourite artists sound.

Any number of settings are allowed

So to kick things off, here is an example of the best way to share your settings

Artist Tone: Avenged sevenfold

(optional, album, song, guitarist)

Amp model: RED Insane (modelled after old style unholly confessions sound)

Drive: 7

Bass: 7

Mid: 8

Treble: 7

Channel volume: 6 (change to preference)

Chorus flange: none

Phaser: none

Tremolo: none

Delay: none

Tape Echo: none

Sweep echo: none

Reverb: none (gives a cold, hard feel to the sound)

Noise Gate: on

shortboard/FVB express optionals

Shortboard used:

Stomp: off

FX loop on

Wah: off

As close to the example as possible is much appreciated, however, if only some information is relevant, then skip what is not needed.

Hope this thread becomes useful to many people

Note: all tones submitted to thread are subject to individuals guitars, so some may need minor tweeking.

i've got thespider 3 and i have a really close peace sells sound, but...it seems like th notes kind of fall apart at the end. i am on the red insane channel, about 6 on the drive, 4 on the bass, 8 on mids, an balls out on the treble. no modulation, delay or reverb. i hve that really punchy tone that megadeth had on that album but it seems like to me that the notes kinda fall apart and bleed together at the end. when i pull the drive back a little it cleans up but naturally i loose that punch. i don't know if its just me, my strings or i'm just being too damn picky, lol. help would be greatly appreciated

    Artist: Avenged Sevenfold

Amp model: RED Insane (This is the tone on my 150 watt spider iii that best fits the a7x style distortion)

    Drive: 10

    Bass: 10

    Mid: 10

    Treble: 10

Channel volume: 10 (change to preference)

    Chorus flange: none

    Phaser: none

    Tremolo: none

    Delay: (preference for solos

    Tape Echo: none

    Sweep echo: none

Reverb: 3 for rhythm; 10 on solos

    Noise Gate: off

    shortboard/FVB express optionals

    Shortboard used:

    Stomp: off

    FX loop off

Wah: off ( except for solo of Lost It All, Demons, and about 2 other Diamonds in the Rough Songs)

This is what gets me my high gain A7X sound. (Sounds like their live tone.)

    DFlynn666

The Heavy,or soft all need an optional addition for consideration? At 56 years of age,I have two son's?One 13,and my youngest 12 years old.One a devoted Headbanger, the other traditional Southern style Rock? With a pair of Spider II 120 watt 2x10 combo Head, the addition of a second half stack, with a 15" Cerwin Vega Pro Audio Speaker in our Irish Gems custom cabinets,it gave the bottom missing from from both styles of music?Even though they where from different spectrums of the World, the hard hitting of the lower tones simplified the chase for the right settings.

The Style of Guitar of choose is usually the Ibanez collection,or similar? My suggestion?Albert King?I know,"Albert King"?Although a very old Black Blues Great, the applications for every level of music begins as always, with Blues?Remember this,Albert King played a Right Handed Flying V Gibson with 1958 Custom Pick Up's!The Key?Albert King was Left Handed. In his time no one made a Left Handed Guitar, this is fact!

The point is,the late great Jimi Hendrix perfected his skills, and his status as the greatest because in 1968 Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin performed "Blues At Sun Rise"?This is where the secret of Albert King was revealed?Heavy Metal,Head Banger, ect requires bending! This is fact!If you are a 97% Right Handed Guitarist you must bend all of Albert King's Strings Down instead of his left handed upward motion!

For closure. The band Metallica, and the Band set a new music for there era of youth? However James most rewarding music produced of late is credited to the knowing the strength that comes from bending them strings? You're Tech No is impressive, and to be commended, how ever return to the beginning of it all:?Blues!Ask Slash?Go to You Tube.Search Slash performs Jimi Hendrix Hey Joe at the British Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. His Rig is his Slash custom Marshall set up,how ever his magic is to see them awesome bends Slash makes on them strings! No effects pedals,no wireless get up's!His signature Marshall get up's,and his signature Slash Les Paul with the Seymour Duncan Pick Up's?

As for the existing Line 6 Rig you use?A custom 15" Speaker Custom Half Stack provides a depth you never new made the difference at every level of music! All types have been great success for all styles, types, and extreme music.

As for as the artist in us the time to find this cabinet for a trial will be a great time advantage, garantee!

    For the main question?Document,Document,Document?

At 56 years of age,I'm certain of one true fact? There is an audience for every artist!Give up,get frustrated, even lock the gear away?"BUT",only to reconsider your next steps for success!Pull it all back, and you'll see a big difference! My last trip to Ireland I seen the U2 Concert in front of Slane Castle.Edge?70/80 effects pedals?Over 30 different Guitars? This man spends day's setting up for a concert! For finalization,Screw up in the room that only your door guards? After all the final problems are resolved by you,and only you will know when you are ready to perform, you will do so without problems, and perfection!

    Kind Regards

    Cleaner Liam

Got back into performing and bought a brand new  Epiphone Les Paul from Sam Ash and found a used Line 6 III 30 with the FBV Express for $120. Love my stuff but still learning how to use it. Can someone explain to me the red and green settings? Not understanding this and hate to sound stupid but the owners manual is kinda vague. Thanks for the help.
