POD X3L - Can't connect to Mac

Hi,
Appreciate any help/advice on this. I'm running a Mac OS 10.5, I've downloaded the latest Pod drive 7.1.4. I've tried to setup the X3 in the system preferences->MIDI setup. The X3L can be selected as an input device but i am not able to adjust the sound levels. There is no recording signal when I try to record with garageband. I've already set X3L as the input device under garageband's preferences.
What is wrong and how can i get this to work?
Thanks
David
The MIDI interface in Line 6 POD devices is not a full implementation - in particular, it does not handle the midi note on/off events that you need to record midi sequences. The MIDI interface is used only for program change commands and some continuous controller commands.
To record using the X3L you need to use audio - not midi - tracks via the X3L usb connection (or some other audio interface to which the X3L analog outputs are connected).
Stay in the mix and in the know.
