Pod HD Pro - Unable to syncronise patches successfully!!? :@

Hi there, I would appreciate any insight into how to fix this infuriating problem! I wouldn't mind, but it seems to be that everything is NEVER smooth!
Right, so I've got the Pod HD Pro, it's all fully updated firmware/driver wise! It's plugged into the back of my PC via USB. It works fine as the unit itself; but the
moment I go to run Pod Pro Edit, the ******* seems to be unable to transfer the patches! I don't understand why, because it has worked a few times before...
It can't be the USB surely? I mean I've tried two different ones and the same shitty error keeps popping up!
Please Help me...please...
Hey there!
First off, welcome to the boards! You'll find some pretty helpful people around here. Look out for any users with the Line 6 Expert tag...they are pretty smart ![]()
Might seem like a common situation, but is your Line 6 Edit up to date? There is a relatively new version. Check on that through Line 6 Monkey first.
Thanks for the welcome! I'll be sure to check the experts out! ![]()
My Pod HD Pro edit is fully up to date, I believe (Running on 2.21) I've tried multiple times to install/reinstall it to see if that works, with no success ![]()
The Firmware/Drivers have been installed, updated, reinstalled and updated again! Still...with no success..
I've even done the global reset, where you hold the arrow down to the left as you turn on the Pod Pro...
It's so frustrating, because the Editor can recieve the presets, but only once in a while, then it decides to suddenly stop working again...
I'm really stuck on what to do!
Thanks!
Have you tried using a different usb cable? A different usb port on the back of your computer?
Also, check the usb port on the back of your HD Pro. When the cable is removed, you should not be able to see the 4 pins. If you can see them that means a piece of plastic has been lost, which can result in pin displacement and a loose connection. In this case your HD Pro needs to be repaired.
Hi Silverhead, I've tried 3 different USB cables and pretty much all of the USB ports on my Computer (which are USB 2.0)
The port on the back looks fine, no visible damage or anything!
It's turning me crazy...
There may be a conflict with another usb device on your computer (Logitech webcams and Line 6 devices are known to not play well torgether). Try temporarily disconnecting all other usb devices except keyboard/mouse. If the problem disappears then you can begin addding the devices back until you find the conflicting one. Then you can try reinstalling its driver.
I'll give that a go! Thank you, anything new to try is worth a hell of a shot! I'll get back to you!
Thanks!
Hey there...still no luck...I've purchased another USB cable from eBay just in case the three I've already tried happen to be faulty! I just don't get it, could it be a certain Patch that's stopping it from synchronising?
Like, it starts to recieve the presets but can never make it the full way, and it differs on how far it gets each time; so it must be working to some extent...but there's obviously something heeding it..d
Thanks again, Silverhead
Yes, it may just be a corrupt patch/preset in your HD Pro. To test that, you might do this:
- backup your existing setlists, one at a time, during periods when HD Pro Edit is behaving properly. If you don't have any existing presets that you don't mind losing you can ignore this step.
- use Line 6 Monkey to reinstall the latest HD Pro firmware. During this process, choose to replace existing presets.
- reset the global parameters as you described earlier in this thread. After that, calibrate the pedal.
Now test HD Pro Edit again. If the problem has disappeared then you can be pretty confident that there was a corruption in at least one of your previous presets. If you want to try tracing it you can restore your saved setlists one at a time and observe when the problem reappears.
Okay, I think we have some progress...I think
It's managed to take in the Presets, apart from the first default tone, '1A - Son Of Plexi'. A message came up saying something about invalid data in a patch and then it renamed Son Of Plexi to 'New Tone (Reset)*'
Could it be this one tone that's making the Pod Pro so hormonal? If so, how can I fix it so it doesn't cause more problems...
Thanks!!
Yes - that could be the problem. But it's likely that more than that one preset are affected. Did you reinstall the firmware as suggested above, replacing all existing presets? This should clear up any problems with corrupt presets. Again, before reinstalling firmware try to back up any customized presets/setlists you want to keep.
I followed the instructions, and it has brought me to this point! I have no presets I wish to keep, as I don't mind re-making them when it's all working smoothly; which it seems to be doing right now...minus that Son Of Plexi tone, which looks to me like the black sheep!
I wouldn't mind losing it, but it's a default tone, meaning when I reset the Pod (which I'm scared to do right now) it'll just come back and cause more problems won't it?
The Son of Plexi has been the name of the tone in that preset slot for a long time - many firmware releases - for all Pod HD dual-path processors. However, sometimes a factory tone is adjusted along with a new firmware release, or improperly imported from another device. Generally, all factory tones that are installed along with a firmware update are compatible so I would not worry about problems after a reinstall that includes replacing existing presets; rather I expect a reinstall will cure the problem.
The symptoms suggest to me that at one point in the past, a firmware update was done without replacing existing presets, or the setlist was imported from another HD device (HD Desktop or 500), and the resulting Son of Plexi tone became incompatible with the host HD Pro firmware.
Reinstall and let me know the result.
I shall do! Haha here goes....
I think we finally have lift off, it's managed to put all the presets across, even Plexi, no problems as of yet...strange, I tried the reinstall a few times, perhaps I hadn't done it in the sequential order you proposed!! Thanks for all your help silverhead, you absolute pro!!
Great - glad to help.
Now, enough of this technical stuff. Go Play!!
Haha, Oh I shall!! ![]()
