SD card via USB?

Hi all,

I'm loving my M20D, but I can already guess at which part is going to fail first. I'm putting my money on the spring and lock mechanism that holds the SD card in place when you press it in and which ejects it when you press it again. I'm saying this because I've had three digital cameras that had SD card slots and they all failed the same way over time. I really want to preserve the SD card slot in the M20D for use while gigging only and I'm not big on getting an externally powered USB drive for my home studio (though I could if I really had no other choice).

 

So here's my question: Can I plug an SD card reader into either of the two USB ports on the M20D and use that card reader with the M20D?

 

If someone doesn't answer in the next couple of days, I'll try it and let you guys know if it works!

    I just spoke with Line6 Technical Support and they tell me that you cannot connect an external card reader to the M20D and access your SD card that way. Out of curiosity, I asked how much he estimates it would cost to replace the card reader if the unit is out of warranty and the service tech estimated $60 - $80, which is much less than I thought it would be. So I'm not going to worry about it. I'm going to use a powered, external USB drive for our rehearsals and use the SD card for recording our gigs.
