DT50-112 or DT50-212

Currently, I have an HD500 and hate the sound of my current amp.  Would I gain anything by purchasing a DT50-112 vs a DT50-212 amp?

Based on you experiences, is it worth the extra bucks?

Thanks

the DT50 is a great amp! i have the 112, the biggest difference with the 212 is the second speaker is a vintage 30, so it's more than just a second speaker, since it has a different voice... having said that i'm plenty happy with the 112.

    I think so...but I'm probably biased as I have a DT-50 112 and a HD500.

If you are getting a fair amount of hiss, you might have a bad 12ax7.  It is common for Chinese tubes to be noisy, so try replacing it. It should be covered under warranty within 90 days of purchase. If you have another tube around, try swapping it out to see if that is the problem.

BTW- If your amp is in Class A mode, it will be noisy. That's just the way is is. It should be very quiet in Class AB mode. The noise isn't a problem in Class A at normal gig levels.

Got the same problem with my 112 (one of the very first unit). I finally returned it and bought a real bogner (used)!

I posted on this forum about the problem. I even attached an audio sample on which you could clearly hear the noise.
