The Edge - Vox tone "Bad" (almost dream rig)

Just thought I'd share. I finally am getting a handle on the DT50 thanks to advice gleaned here.
This is an EVH Wolfgang Stealth Special > HD500 > DT50-112 (I just can't see using a modeled guitar/guitar sound at this point)
1 slap delay (1 tap) running paralell to a dotted 8th delay into a amp. I used a patch cable in the effects loop of the HD500 that along with the loop effect allowed me to add a little bit of dirt.
Once I get past the staccatto/muted parts the strings ring like bells. Loving my setup.

Let me know what you think. I'm not sensitive. ![]()
Great work! Sounds great!
This song is just fantastic
You can also work with the octo verb in some parts to recreate a shimmer effect and add more room to the sound.
Is the guitar humbucker splitted? (it sounded great)
Thanks Sir!
I do have the octoverb in the preset, but it is not present here.
I didn't split the humbucker. I acutally used both pickups (switch in middle position).
I've seen the Edge use various guitars to do the same tune. Often, ones I would've not picked having his arsenal of choices. I'm in love with the EVH's as of late (got 2). I just tried to make it work.
Glad you liked it.
Really loving the HD500 with DT50. In my mind you need both. While the DT alone is a great amp, the HD needs the DT.
Loving the setup, options, AND SOUND!
fantastic!
Thanks so much!
Sounds great
can you post the patch on customtone??
I would be happy to when I get home around 6pm EST.
What kind of guitar are you using? I am using an EVH which has HOT humbuckers. So, your results may vary.
have a ssh strat and a les paul with fairly hot humbuckers, both with stainless frets like the evh wright?
so should be in the ballpark.
It should work well!!!
Sorry I forgot last night!
I always have my volume all the way up. In my mind I don't want to take any potential away from the intended tone of the guitar. Pickup switch in middle position.
I want to hear a LP through it. Although the patch is not perfect there. I think the delay mod settings could be better and I already adjusted them.
This patch is the ****!
A friend of mine who is a jazz player came over with his Heritage. I wanted to impress him with the diversity of my setup. We set him up a tone for his taste. He complained that it was too boomy on the bottom end but he liked it. When he left I plugged in my EVH and it was boomy. I added vintage pre and ran the HPF to get rid of boominess. Slapped a delay on it and it sounded very U2. Bad sounded fantastic clean. Just like the studio version. Slapped on some distortion and felt I had easily approximated the live sound. Note the amp choice and settings. These are not typical choices for a rock player I wouldn't think. Anyway, this is the nbest tone for this tune I have come up with and if you use an LP, EVH, or other humbucker guitar I urge you to try this. I used the middle position for pickups and volume and tone all the way up (as usual)
Stay in the mix and in the know.
