UX2 on Windows 7 stops working after random delay

Hi,

i have an old UX2 and i'm happy with it.

I'm using Windows 7 and it's fine too.

But for a few days, every time i've been watching a video (dailymotion or youtube) or a simple .avi, after a few minutes, the sound stops and the VU meters on UX2 don't move anymore. No error message, nothing, only lack of sound.

I have tried several things :

- unplug USB from UX2 : when i plug back, VU meters are black and the red clip leds are blinking..

- try to disable/enable the Line6 UX2 in device manager : it hangs .. Windows 7 tries to remove it but doesn't manage and stays with the message which says it tries to disable it..

- reboot : VU Meters are enlighted but the red clip leds are blinking .. When i come back in Windows, i need to go to device manager and reinstall the driver ..  instantly the red clips stop  blinking and it works again ..

Do you know this issue ?  no blue screen of death, only sound stopped and nothing except reboot makes the sound come back again ..

The drivers of UX2 are the latest ones 4.0.2.7

i really don't know what to do and i'm beginning to hate my UX2 ..

Thanks to try and help me

    Hi,

same exact problem since I've used windows 7 and whatever versions of the drivers I had (updated regularily for the last 10 month).

I hate to have to reboot when sounds hangs, it doesn't happen every day, but still often enough to be notified and asked for a fix !!

I have the exact same problem with my PodStudio GX under win7(64bit). Sound stops after random working time. Very annoying to have reboot all the time. Please Line6, fix that bug.....

    Hello,

Unfortunate to say but I have the same problem with ux2 and windows 7, latest drivers. Sounds disappears at random time everywhere. Replugging the usb leaves red blinking  the meters on ux2. Reboot is the only fix.

My machine is a laptop with Intel i5 processor.

Re: UX2 on Windows 7 stops working after random delay

the only workaround to rebooting I found is :

      - go to windows device manager

      - unactivate the implicated Line6 device (Toneport UX 2 for me)

      - unplug/re-plug the device

      - reactivate it in the device manager.

It does not solve the problem (obviously a driver bus since it concerns dirrefent kind of config), but it saves a reboot, you can keep your apps open.

      hope it'll helps

    Hi,

Same problem here! Prayers don't work!

I think it's time to find a solution before I get rid of my UX1 (or Win7)!

    Cheers

Hi, I have the same problem but when I try to deactivate/activate from the control panel it crashes so I have to reboot.

No one still have found a solution?

    Thanks!

Re: UX2 on Windows 7 stops working after random delay

Same here, been using a TonePort and now a Studio UX2 since the day it hit the shelf. I also have a m-audio unit that does not have this issue. I really do love my UX2, but it seems the Line6 development team is quite slow to catch up on these things.

Is this a flash or whatever player issue that the line6 drivers don't get along with?? I'm going to try some older drivers tomorrow, because this is a deal breaker for me. When my UX2 drops, everything goes blank except for 2 little red lights bouncing back and forth. I reinstalled my OS from scratch and only installed line6 drivers and have completely narrowed this down to Youtube and Dailymotion and like sites. Besides that it works great, I can watch every format of movie imaginable through WMP and VLC player with not a single issue, but this happens everytime with online players. I have tested this many many times to isolate the issue.

       I am using an i7, 8gig, Win7 64 laptop.

One work around, funny I just posted a comment about this program and am not what-so-ever affiliated with them I swear.....lol......you'll understand if you see my other post, is to install ASIO4ALL, I will report back tomorrow if it works.

I really hope Line6 works a little harder on the next driver release as my other 2 devices from other companies are working alot better lately, and not just when watching Youtube. Anyways, I'm going to try a few of these ideas tomorrow and see what happens.

Everyone of us needs to open a ticket to see if Line 6 even cares, this is the only way to have any hope for a fix. And keep these threads alive.

Re: UX2 on Windows 7 stops working after random delay

I haven't had what I suspect is this DirectX driver problem on my new Intel based machine until recently when in System Properties/Advanced/Performance Settings I set Processor scheduling to Background services. The sound would then inevitably drop in media players, YouTube, Skype, and games, and the only remedy would be a restart. And as I stated a year ago in this thread, even when that happened I could still hear sound in all the programs that used ASIO drivers. So I would suggest to everyone who is experiencing this problem, to set Processor scheduling to Programs and see if that might help.
