Any recommendations for connecting HD500 live?

I'm a brand new Pod HD500 user. I'm looking for recommendations on connecting the HD500 to a church PA system? We have a contemporary praise / worship band, so we rock out from time to time.  Would it be best to connect my Pod HD500 using the XLR output into the church's PA system, or use the HD500 L/Mono output to a Direct Box to PA system? Also, for on-stage sound I have a few options, either a monitor, my Peavey Classic 30/112 tube combo amp, or an Aviom?  Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Pod HD500 live usage

You can do that, but I always use the left 1/4" out into a direct box then XLR into the stage box/snake. The reason is that stereo is summed to mono if you use the L/mono 1/4" output, but you don't get left and right summed from only one XLR. That can make a bid difference especially on delays. And... I've never been anywhere that I could run stereo to FOH.

From a monitoring aspect, it depends on how good and flexible the monitoring system is. Most of the time I have been on an Aviom or Hearback system where I had control of my mix. Other guys use a powered full range monitor directly off of the HD500 for their "More ME" stage sound.

I use the Left/mono 1/4" > Direct Box > XLR > Snake, with Aviom IE.

From what Ive understood the only time to use the XLR outputs on the HD unit, is when you can use both and have two channels available on the mixer and the PA is run in Stereo. (most don't)
