Output Modes

I have been using PODS since the XT and every one that I own only sound good using the studio direct mode, either using my monitors for recording or with my amp. What would be the reason for this? The only reason I ask this is because I read about people using combo front but I've tried this and it sounds terrible compared to studio direct. I must add that my amp is a Tech 21 Power Engine 60,which adds very little if any color to the tone.

With that amp being more of a flat response amp I would use line out not combo out.

studio direct includes mic and room emulation... the other modes are more dry, meant to be fed into an amp and mic'd up manually.

you're amp is more FRFR like a PA system so i'm sure that's why studio direct sounds better!

No foul in microphoneing it up if it sounds good. If the amp has a pass though for the line I'd use that. The left/right solution has interresting implications if you used a stereo effect.

exactly... just like you've been doing with the modes... go with what you think sounds best... not really a hard and fast rule...

worth checking a few different options and judging for yourself.
