HD 500 Sounded Garbled and Cutting Out

I've had my PODHD 500 for almost two years now with no issues, until two days ago. Any patch I use sounds very garbled, almost like a robot with a dirty sound, even on a clean patch. At times it even cuts out and doesn't play at all. I've tried different guitars, different cables, using all of the different outs (including headphones) with the same result for everything. I have all of the firmware updated and have tried all my patches with the same outcome. Since it's not under warranty anymore I'm at a loss, and the closest repair center is almost four hours away. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've called local guitar stores and they don't want to touch it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use my POD directly through a PA system with no amp. So I completely rely on it for everything I do. Thanks in advance for the help!
I would try the following sequence of troubleshooting steps:
1) Use HD500 Edit to back up all of your Setlists. Then close HD500 Edit and disconnect the USB cable.
2) Reset the Global Parameters and recalibrate the pedal.

If that doesn't solve things...
3) Reinstall the HD500 device firmware.

If the problem persists....
4) Open a support ticket with Line 6

Hopefully Steps 2 or 3 resolve things. Good luck with it.
Thanks for the quick response silverhead. I'll try those and see what happens. Thanks again!
