Some Variax questions before purchase...

Hey guys
I have a few questions about the Variax guitars and software before I decide to purchase a used model...
1. Is it possible to use a variax 300 series guitar without a pod pedal......?
connect it via usb or something, to a macbook, change your presets using workbench, and then just use guitar rig for the amp modeling?
2. If I purchased a used 300 series will I be able to run the latest acoustic models? They sound really good!
Thanks!
1. you would need to buy the workbench interface it costs 100$, if you ask me money would be better spent going to a used XT live
2. No, the new acoustics are JTV only
I had the same problem when finding a Variax on ebay as you. I noticed that getting a Variax would require purchasing a lot more than just the guitar itself.
I felt batteries would cost too much so I needed the power supply, and I wanted custom patches so I needed the workbench cable.
Like Zap says, the accessories cost alot on it's own, but I found a 600 for 400 with VDI cable, workbench interface, XPS power adapter, and a bag, so it was a great deal.
You just have to keep looking around for good deals. Try to be patient.
