POD HD desktop and Original MBOX

Newbie at recording. I'm having trouble recording electric guitars. I like the sound I get with my pocket pod using the modern high gain with the drive turned down a bit so it's breaking up some but not a lot. The pocket pod is not suitable for recording however and I have been trying to use various amp modeling software as inserts. (I have an original MBOX and Pro tools 8.01). Arrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhh. I cannot get the sound I want with those things. They are either overdriven too much or not enough. The gain also goes to crap on the b&e strings. So I was contemplating getting a POD HD with its high quality output. But now I see that The pro tools 8.01 will not interface with anything but digidesign stuff. Arrrgggggg again. Here's my question though. THe MBOX has SPDIF in, the POD HD has SPDIF out. Will that work, or are the sample rates different and unchangeable?

Thanks in advance

Mike

I use spdif with my pod hd desktop into a tascam us1800 works fine...

i use mine a slightly different way though... i have the spdif set to record dry, and go analog into the us1800 for my wet sounds...

lets me apply amps/effects later if i want to, without re-performing the track.

but the spdif will work fine sending just the wet track if that's what you want.
