I started giging in 2012 again - after a short break of 25 years ![]()
And Live-performance is, at the end, the acid test - the moment of truth for every musician.
Now, after several gigs, I can say that my guitar rig (HD500 / DT50-212 / Marshall 2x12 cab / Rivera Rockcrusher / JTV59 + 69) was not only promising at rehearshal time. It delivers under giging conditions what I have expected from as a Hobby Cover Rock Musician. And the link with the most room of improvement in the complete "signal chain" is at the moment myself
.
Our bass player did a short Video summary of 3 songs with my band from one of our recent gigs.
It is really not perfect - it is Live. And I am a little embarrassed that I have produced several bum notes in the Hotel California Solo at the end of the Video
.
The recording quality is okay. Nothing spectacular. But may be an appropriate supplement to all the words you can find in this forum:

I know it takes a moment of overcoming. But I think it would be a great idea, if others would post their special "moment of truth" with their Dream Rig in that Thread too.
Any thoughts on that ????????
Very nice! It looks like a lot of fun too ![]()
Good for you to return to playing live (I know it takes some courage). Sounds great overall! Keep going ![]()
Oh Wow!
thanks for all your appreciated feedback!
I do have a lot of fun with my Band and it is a great gift and honour to me that I have found these experienced guys and their great passion for music - although we are just hobby musicians.
Thanks again - you all make my day! ![]()
great! totally dug it... great band you have there.
Sounds awesome!
Great songs, great tones, vocals! you have a great band!
The 12 string acoustic and the guitar solo in hotel california sounds great too.
Here's the video of my Dream Rig in action (actually just the HD500 + JTV-59 in this video), guitar will really start at 1:55.
The song is Uprising by Muse.
Not bad, but I can do all the guitars AND the synth parts on my GR-55. Also the alternate tuning (Drop-D). Some would say I've switched over to the Dark Side. It's a lot of fun over here.
Hi guilhermebreda,
you did a good job on this Muse song! I like that Band - it is not so much mainstream. Like the guitar solo.
May be the volume level of the Rhythm guitar in the overall mix could be a little bit reduced for my taste.
Hey Everybody,
I use what I call the "Cream Rig" - ALMOST the dream rig, with an HD500, DT25, and an older Variax, a Blue 600. I use it for gigs all the time, and I've started video recording them as I go. I have all the capabilities of the JTV, except for being able to tie an alt tuning to a patch on the HD (I have to program a tuning and have it recalled), I can't virtual capo, and I can't assign continuous control to my vol/tone controls on my Variax. I usually bring my Marshall AS50R acoustic amp to use with my FX loop if I have to use Acoustic sounds.
For my lastest gig, yesterday performing contemporary Christian music for World Youth Day at a large Catholic church. The tunes used 5 different capo settings, so I used Tele-2, Gretch-3, LP-1, and Acoustic-3 with capos set up in workbench, and assigned to Custom patches on the Variax. I used my 2 fave amp models, the Fender Twin and Marshall 800, with a variety of effects.
Here's a song from yesterday's gig: You Lift Me Up
Here is an original song at a summer Jazz gig, Gretch/Twin: Michigan Winter (Performed by Hubble Street Jazz)
Here is another band of mine, playing Tele/Twin/Screamer: Keep Your Hands To Yourself
And playing with the big band, Tele/Twin: I Feel Good
Before I got the DT25, I played the Vax/HD500 thru a Tech 21 Power Engine 60. I was pretty happy with the combo, but it did lack the warmth and room-filling sound of the DT25. Here's a few examples.
With my 90s Alt-rock trio: In Bloom
With the same trio, but with a capo at 2 Acoustic-3 thru my Marshall acoustic amp: Brian Wilson
Needless to say, I'm saving my pennies to get a JTV - got my eyes on the Tri-color 69s!
