It's not !
Imagine the RF spectrum as a bunch of pipes laid in a trench, with that "trench" representing the RF band space allocated to our radio mics and each "pipe" representing one radio mic frequency.
The law prevents us from widening the trench to the detriment of our neighbours trenches. (We never liked them anyway, but there's nothing we can do about that.)
Sadly, individual "pipes" often become blocked, so Line 6 came up with their unique "plumbing" that instantly swapped between four pipes to absolutely guarantee our "flow", as only one is ever needed (at a given time) for each radio mic.
That original Line 6 "plumbing" scheme for the first V70s (now known as "RF1") uses every one of the maximum 48 "pipes" (individual frequencies) that can possibly fit into our "trench" to yield 12 interruption-free wireless channels.
Later on, they came up with a way of just swapping between only two individual "pipes" per wireless channel in order to "squeeze out" a couple of extra individual "flows" from the limited width of our "trench", yielding a new maximum of 14 channels.
They figured the "trade-off" of slightly less reliability from "two pipes" (versus that of "four pipes") would often be offset by the additional convenience this later scheme gave in terms of both providing an extra two channels and its ability to work without "treading on" the Bluetooth and WiFi "pipes" that those pesky neighbours insist on running in the same "trench".
This is the "RF2" scheme that arrived with the XD-V75s, but can be "re-flash" retrofitted to V70s (as an addition to RF1) via Line 6 "Monkey".
