G50 transmitter cable wiring: Line 6 dual-ground OR Shure style single-ground?

So I was putting a right-angle cable on my TBP12 transmitter cable for my g50 wireless system, and I saw that it had two cables grounded on the sleeve of the old straight 1/4" (the ground wire and a blue wire).

After looking online here, I found Line 6 saying to ONLY solder one ground, and that the second ground lowers the impedance too much.  Shure does it with single grounds too.

Why did the cables ship from the factory with this lower ground, and how is the sound altered by this?  Which is preferable in the g50 and why?

(And should I clip the second ground?)

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
