Best Headphones for POD HD 500

I am currently playing at church. I have been having a hard time with hearing myself and different sound people everyweek. They always change the tone and we tell them to stop and a lot of times I can't hear myself. The way my church is we have a certain decibal we have the stage so we can balance it and the PA.

 

I want to get some headphones I can wear on stage so i can hear myself and also do mixing at my house at night.

 

Im in a budge of about $100

 

I heard Its best to have 150-600ohms

 

What can I get for around that price that I can use on stage and mix at my house?

    If you are having other people mess with your sounds on a weekly basis at Church then getting different monitors or headphones there wont help. Getting one person that will listen to your concerns and do your sound each week the same way will. As far as a good pair of headphones for home use at around a $100.00, my AKG K240's work well. But they are around 60 ohms fyi....

      What about just using headphones to listen live even if tone is different I can hear guitar at least loud. Is it really bad with headphones at $100 as in that it doesnt sound close to real tone or is very close but not exact?

        I think you are confusing the idea just a bit. In order to hear what everyone else is playing too, you must also have their signals mixed inside the same headphones you wish to hear yourself in. This mix comes from someone who knows how to send you the proper feeds/signals from the mixer to each player, and it sounds like this is your problem in the first place. If you isolate yourself and your amp only from everyone else thats playing, yes you can hear yourself but you wont be able to keep up with what every one else is doing. In other words, you wont be able to listen and be mixed correctly live unless everyone else thats playing is in the mix/earphones/monitors too.

    I use AK240S open-back headphones for some of my mixing and when I'm practicing at night.  I can normally hear everything around me when playing at a reasonable volume, and they are good budget mixing cans.  If you are plugging them into the Pod, you should be fine.  Very comfortable also.

    Would this be the best headsets because has 550 OHM and for $105 and also says studio in name? Is that would give me perfect mixing or pretty close with it and good to use only one ear on live so I can head myself loud enough and hear everyone else?

      NEVER use just one headphone/earbud in a live situation.  You cannot judge the level of the volume properly, and risk damaging your hearing.

       

      I would suggest getting a cheap 2 channel mixer, ask for a monitor feed (line level, mono) and also take the same thing from the POD.  Mix that to your liking, and use IEMs or headphones (cans) from your own mixer.  This assumes you don't have Avioms or similar.  A personal mix, like the Aviom system, really works best in situations where you are working ampless, though.

       

      I found that the one thing you can do to help your sound folks is to spend some time using a mixer and doing some digital recording of a few selected patches that you use only at church.  Get the levels so they are all about the same.  Also, when you switch in your OD, distortion effects (FX1), make sure the level doesn't change significantly.  Use the effect for "color" and work the guitar valume control.  Nothing will get the sound guys pushing your channel fader down quicker than you switching patches or kicking in an effect, and having the guitar suddenly get much louder.  Do that a couple times and you'll never be heard again .

       

      Those are probably good phones for the money.  I have several sets of headphones, and they are all different.  But, a higher impedance set is recommended for the POD HD, so I would definitely get one set of those.  I've used others, but my Beyer-Dynamic DT-770 (250 ohm) set is still my favorite (not in your price range though).
