Should also be more specific in that by "box" I mean HD Pro.

The L6 description of the Mid Focus EQ:
"A high-pass and a low-pass each with frequency and gain control used together to create a band-pass."
THats the closest thing I have found int eh documentation.... I have the HD300, and it doesnt have this effect so I cant say for sure how it works.
Honestly, if it works like the rest of the EQs, it will make absolutely no sense.

this might help:
http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/eq
explains how % translates to frequency, etc.
check out the video linked in there for even more info.

MId focus is pretty good...I tend to use that one for a clean boost where bandpass is generally wanted without much of a color...However, since the Vintage Pre was added I have been gravitating to that one a little more often. I like the color of that pre and it has LPF and HPF...You can only adjust the freq point with a fixed cut and q...But it does the job pretty nicely for what I like...

Thank you all for you help. Yeah, it was my oversight; I had been avoiding even trying out the mid focus because the name made me think it was something other than a hp/lp filter. But man, what a convoluted system it has going. The controls make no sense on it at all. I can get it to do what I want it to now, but the logic of it deffinitely escapes me.
Now all the "why is it in %?!?!" threads make COMPLETE sense. What doesn't is the box has been around for over 2yrs and it's still in % instead of Hz, etc. My ears and brain hurt from trying to dial it in. I'm going to have sit down with the EQ guide because I'm deffinitely a lot happier with the results than I have been in a while. Not that I was sooo unhappy before, but dialing out the high-end fizz with the box itself instead of an outboard EQ makes a world of difference.

Use the Vintage Pre in the Pre+EQ category...It has an adjustable High-Pass and Low-Pass Filter. Hope this helps!

The vintage adds too much gain/colour to the mix, and had a tin-y/metallic/digital sound at the end of the tone chain that just didn't work for me. Fantastic that it has actualy Hz frequencies, but considering I'm using it after high-gain amps, I can't dial out the charistics I mention without sacrificing too much volume in the process. Turns out the mid focus does exactly what I want it to, it just does it in a non-sensical and counter-intuitive way. It's why I keep lobbying for a five band parametric EQ with selectable band frequencies, selectable bandwidth, and shelving as an option for the highest frequency making it a LowPass filter as well as an EQ.
