Volume pedal problem for HD500

Can anyone tell me why the volume pedal doesn't work on certain patches on my HD500? I've downloaded several from here (plus built a couple) where the pedal was either all on, or all off and nothing I could do made it function correctly. I thought the problem might be in the Mixer section, but even set to center the pedal doesn't function on those patches.
Also, I have a problem with patches that I save multiple times on the computer AND on the pedal board reverting back to the previous settings as soon as I detach the computer cable.
Thanks,
....Tom
The Volume pedal (actually expression pedal 1) doesn't have to be set to control volume, it can be set to control any parameter and also to control more than one parameter simultaneously. So it's very likely that author(s) of these patches didn't need or don't want to control volume with exp. pedal or set it to controll something else.
And to your second problem - do you hit on of "send" buttons in HD500 Edit before detaching USB cable (send selected, send set list or send all)? I'm 99% sure you need to send patches to your HD500 before closing HD Edit or unpluging your computer.

If you need help assigning the expression pedal to a volume then try this .... http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2720
A common trick is, rather than using an 'Volume control" Effect block, assign the expression pedal to the Volume parameter fo rthe amp model. This saves you a block.
