Wireless In Ear Monitor System - Will Line 6 Be Producing One?

Hi,
From all I have read so far about the reliability and audio quality of the Relay G30 system, it sounds like ideal technology for a digital wireless In Ear Monitoring solution. Maybe even combined with a guitar / bass transmitter in one neat tidy pack?
Do Line 6 have plans for such a solution?
Also, can you please tell me what is the latency for the G30 Relay system?
Many Thanks.
Best I can say is we're always looking at providing solutions ![]()
The latency of a G30 is just under 4ms.
Many Thanks for responding so quickly.
Awsome latency figure (will generate a sale).
Shame you couldn't be more definitive about the IEM solution. I will keep checking back...
All The Best.
I'm not an RF engineer, but I would think with all of this wireless technology someone would come up with a way to combine something like the XDS-PLUS or G-30 AND wireless in ear monitor in one unit....
I would buy that in a heartbeat!!!
I too would be interested in that! even a combo unit with a wireless mike/guitar and wireless ears!
Count me in. Make one for under $900 and you'd take huge market share. Make the send and receive both in stereo (for double neck guitars, keytars, and stereo guitars like Rickenbackers) - that would be sweet.

The best monitoring system i can figure out, but cant buy, wold make the following posible:
We have a 18-aux-channel stage mixer, so everyone gets its own monitor mix. But i also want to know what the audience hears and so the current solution is that everyone has his mix on the left ear and the PA-Master on the right. The balance pot on the hippack lets you fade betwen those extrema. But its not perfect. Perfect would be a sender (none ever produced as far as i know) that has a L, R and Aux input and transmits all three channels. The receiver should now allow you to fade between L/R <-> L+A/R+A <-> A/A.
Sounds great? Please, make it so!

I like this three channel idea too. It would definitely be something on my personal wish list ![]()

I hate to break your heart about your idea but there is a company that has already done this
they are called lectrosonics
they are the top of the line wireless products manufacturer
their equipment is top notch
Make them. Do it! Do it! Do it! You already have most of the R&D done with the Relay series anyway. ![]()

Price them like you have priced the new Relay series guitar systems. I will buy one... probably three.

There are only a handful of in ear systems on the market that I would consider even remotely affordable, and those systems suffer from the same compression/companding issues as RF guitar wireless.
From my research and conversations with fellow musicians, I have come to the conclusion that the cost prohibitive nature of most of the in ear systems on the market masks the actual demand for these systems that actually exists.
Go ahead guys, Make My Day - make those wireless in ear monitor systems. With the way you price your gear you will knock the other systems over. Bring on the Line6 digital wireless in ear solution!!!
Winning! Please create this no brainer solution. There is such a demand for this. I play in church, and there are so many worship players using Aviom systems now, and so many want to go wireless. They can go wireless with the instruments and vocals super easy now (thanks Relay!!!), but then are tethered because of the in ears. Please make this happen, and you will own the market. I have money on standby as do some of my fellow musicians once this comes available!!!
Muf
i would buy four in ear monitor units
please put me on the list for testing prototypes
i use sennheiser IEM systems multiple times throughout the week
i would love to test a line6 product against the sennheiser
4ms latency on the G30... wicked!
I'm also very interested in any Line 6 IEM wireless system... if you guys make it i too will buy it!
In ear monitoring really is the way forward, from pro bands playing to click tracks or just a straight mix right the way through to small outfits playing bars and clubs. No more musicians whinning about the mix on stage. Hallelujah!
my band uses an in ear monitor rig that i built
the down side is, the only person that is wireless is our front man because of the cost.
if line6 could put together a wireless IEM unit, i would definitly be in the market
Digital Wireles IEM's are here, but there expensive! http://www.lectrosonics.com/Wireless-Monitors/quadra.html It would be nice if line 6 or another company could drop the price drastically.
I need a system like the Relay but with the added IEM support in the same package. What's the point of being wireless on the guitar if you still need that cable for the IEM?? Can anyone from Line6 respond with info about if you are even considering doing this? There is an obvious market for it and you have the techonology. What's the holdup?
Can anyone from Line6 respond with info about if you are even considering doing this?
We are always looking forward to provide new solutions .. in lots of areas.
What's the holdup?
Who says there is a holdup? Invention of new things just takes a long time. It can only happen as fast as it can happen.
Really wainting for a such device!!!
It whould be a nice pair to each G50 that my musicians use on stage ![]()
I say there must be some holdup. Patents, maybe? I dunno.
You guys tore into the wireless instrument market like it was nothing. There's no "inventing" to do. You just have to figure out how to make an IEM that does what everyone elses' does at a price point that pisses shure's shareholders off, royally.
I'd be tremendously surpised if you guys stumbled across whatever "manufacturing magic" that allowed you to drop the price-point of the instrument wirelesses, and didn't start working on IEM's till now. That doesn't sound like the strategy of a company w/ Line 6-like status.
Naturally, when you respond so vaguely without mentioning that you risk your job if you tell us the info we seek, it tends to rattle those of us who stand to spend $1500 for PSM 900's if you don't "invent" something soon.
Just to add to what dboomer has already said, You should at least know that we are reading your posts and suggestions.

Thank you for that, sir.
Your instrument wireless systems have the sound of systems 4x the price. Clear, dependable signal.
That's exactly what I'd want in an IEM. Clear, dependable signal.
I've heard that a lot of what makes the price of an IEM go up has to do with the amount of "noise" experienced by the user. Yeah, it's more technical than that, whatever. None-the-less, an IEM with clear, dependable signal, and user reviews indicating a comparable noise-level to the sennheiser and shure units everyone wants, but can't afford at a price point similar to your instrument wirelesses - I'd be sold - or rather, your unit would be sold to me, indeed.
Also, I'd make sure there's an option for stereo inputs at least one one of the models.
Thanks
Steve and All -
A lot of us who have used Line 6 or X2 wireless as their first wireless product (and spoiled rotten) REFUSE to go backwards to non-digital wireless for in-ears. We are waiting. We will sing your praises. We understand the cost and are ready. I'm patiently waiting - running a wired set up now. Can't wait to cut the cord with a Line 6 wireless. I'm saving a space in my rack to go along with the POD HD Pro and the Relay G90.
And please let us plug a lavalier into the belt pack for ambient room noise too - just to be greedy.
Patiently waiting.... refuse to buy another wireless In Ear system till it's as plug and play as the Relay/X2 wireless.
Thanks.
Kevin
I'll add my post because I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE a L6 wireless unit. And I wouldn't need it to be anything fancy either, just a simple, reversed G50 system type deal. PLEASE!!!! Thanks!
I have an idea for wireless in-ear's that no one is doing yet. It's a simple modification but it would be revolutionary...would love to team up with Line 6 to make it happen!
The prospect IEM Technology from Line 6 literally has me drooling... I am and have been such a fan for many years now of Line 6 product - the newer wireless technology in the G series is spectacular...
I have been using Shure IEM systems for many years... and the are solid... but if Line 6 could bring the digital wireless IEM system to market in a cost effective manner - such as they ahve with the G series - it would be a game - changer!!!
One suggestion - partner with a great company like sensaphonics.com for buds... after trying many - they are the BEST on the market IMHO!
Cheers.... Peeler (your loyal fan!!!)
Until last year, E-MU made the Pipeline digital transceiver system: each unit could either send or receive, 48kHz digital (an SPDIF input), both ends battery (rechargeable) powered or wall wart. Down side was range and bulk, and headphone volume (using Ultimate Ear UE7's) could be louder. With regular headphones, like AKG-240S, it needed more umph. Maybe that's a limitation on amplifier power with a battery powered device.
I tried them out but by the time I decided maybe we should outfit the band, the product was discontinued. Since it allowed for a broadcast mode, you needed one unit as a transmitter, and one receive for each set of in-ears / or even regular floor monitors.
This would seem to be a natural Relay type product. Given my total happiness with my Relay guitar system, I'd buy one in a heartbeat!
I have put off buying the Carvin system because I know a Line 6 IEM will be very good. My Relay wireless system is brilliant.....here's another vote for an IEM from Line 6!!!!! ![]()
And here's another vote for Line 6 IEM !!
Playing guitar without cable certainly looks cool, but it's nothing compared to feedback issues when using wedge monitoring !
I thought the major part of the work was done with the Relay technology...And a real great thing with the digital tech (vs HF) is that it works worlwide...
Come on, Line 6 staff !
Stay in the mix and in the know.
