There are some fuses inside also...heater and plates....I think they double up in the head so there might be be two heater and two plate fuses....I have the 112...Anyhoo, my MK2 blew a power tube about a week after I got it (shipped from cali to atanta...happens...)...The heaters still came on, but no purple haze when on....Even after putting in new tubes, it would not work...plate fuse blew...generally this will only blow when a tube blows...You might have only lost one tube, but this fuse takes the whole amp down...It's protection...I am bettering you blew a tube...sometimes they will look completely normal and just fail....check the inverter also...

Get a cheap solidstate rackable amp and any multi-effects pedal that'll do the bare minimum for you. That is your Disaster Rig. Yeah, you'll have to stop and apologize and not sound as good -- but it should keep the the boos at bay. And keep the "will this fail?" nerves at bay.

I have used the same CRATE 1X12 65WATT AMP FOR 11 YEARS AND TRIED TIRELESS LY TO WORK WITH LINE 6 PRODUCTS RANGING FROM POD HD 500 (THAT HAD A BUM POWER PORT AT THE HOUSE, 10 WEEKS TO REPAIR NEVER SAW A GIG), SPIDER JAM III HAD TO EXCHANGE THAT 3 DAYS AGO NEVER SAW A GIG CAUSE THE SMOKE CAME OUT OF IT WHEN I WAS SETTING UP THE PEDAL AND NOW THE SPIDER IV.
the crate will have to come to every gig even if I eer get one of these line 6 products to a show. FYI i have had at least 50 shows since I bought a the POD 500 never got to use it, spider Jam never saw a show.
ALL THESE AMPS SOUND GREAT AT THE STORE AND AT THE HOUSE, BUT GET THEM TO A REHEARSAL OR START GIGGING, YOU BETTER BRING A BACK UP.

I just use one of these...and don't really have those kind of problems...Been using Line 6 for a very long time...knock on wood...Not one service center visit...
Been using since AX2...Flextone III XL, SV MK1, SV M2, DT50 and DT25....M13, POD XT, HD and HD400...Gigged them all, rehearsed them all. Never an issue...I still have my ADA MP-1 rig from the 80s with SPXs, Effectrons etc...Furman AR15 there...I have always used an AVR on my gear...and I have never had anything more than tubes go...tubes go sometimes...But not using an AVR when you gig is like doing strippers without a glove...It's not really the spikes that kill your gear, it's the low voltage stuff...power consitioners don't protect the same way and low voltage is more often the issue at venues...not spikes...voltage gets low enough, this digital stuff will reset...
oh yea, the other benefit of using a transformer on your power is it eliminates ground loops...

I second Spaceati's reply about the AVR. I bought this same Tripplite on his suggestion and use it at home for my puders and amps then take it with for band practice & gigs. I would never plug my Line 6 amps straight into the wall. I live very rural and I always see incoming line voltage fluctuations on the Tripplite. This thing really brings peace of mind to the situation especially considering how sensitive these Line 6 amps seem to be with regards to line voltage.

Oh man, I have an AVR story from last night....I got a new guitar the other day and I have an amp in the bedroom (DT25 head & 112 cab) as I am in the honeymoon right now...Tripp Lite is on the circuit..Well, I left the Tripp Lite on last night as at about 4 am this morning it started switching every 2-3 seconds...regulating undervoltage...It did this for almost 2 hours and then stopped at around 6 am this morning...None of the clocks in the house needed resetting or anything, but the power was browning for 2-3 seconds every 5 or 6 seconds for two hours...I was going to switch it off, but I was curious when it was going to stop...
