Here it is. The final amp pics with the Flextone III Plus/XL head and both 2x12 cabs. Being the habitual tinkerer that I am I have been swapping speakers again;

What did I settle on? My buddy the speaker cab builder suggested I try Warehouse Speakers. After making a few calls and talking to some users I purchased 2 Warehouse Speakers Veteran 30's and 2 ET65's and put one of each in each 2x12 cab. Remember these cabs are stereo so I put the Veteran 30 on the left on the bottom cab and on the right on the top cab. Finally tonal bliss and the price was right too at $65.00 each. There is all the low end grunt you could ask for along with screaming highs if you want to dial them in. It also sounds very big and full. Oh, and it is very loud and cuts through the mix too!  Let me know what you think? Post your replies on the Google FlexFax forum or on the Line6 forum. I monitor both. All-in-all it's been a fun project and I'm totally satisfied with the results. I started these cabs for another local musician who backed out part way through the project so these are what I am using currently. I got a lot of compliments on the tone and standout color combo at last weeks gig.

I had heard of WGS before but had never taken an interest until a buddy of mine that bulds speaker cabs locally told me I should try them. I'm pleasantly surprised. The Veteran 30 seems to have a smoother frequency curve than the Celestion Vintage 30 but has a lot of the same characteristics. The ET65 seems to have a good bottom and top end and sounds a little scooped in the mids. The combination of the 2 really compliment each other. I like your red cabs. They really stand out. That's what I was going for with the lemon yellow I chose. There's a company in Canada called Yelow Cab and I thought they were cool looking but couldn't afford their asking price so I built my own cabs.

If you're separating the amp into a head and an 8 ohm 2x12 cab use the Left speaker out, although it probably doesn't matter if it is a head with no internal speaker. If it's an 8 ohm mono cab it may have 2 16 ohm speakers inside. It would be worth checking into because you could rewire the cab stereo at 16 ohms per side and it will work with the Flex. You just can't go below 8 ohms. Higher impedence is ok. If you rewire it stereo the stereo effects like the chorus really comes alive. You will also have twice as much power available since both sides of the amp will be driven. Something to think about!

Thanks for the thumbs up spaceatl. This is the 4th one I've built. I actually started it for another local musician but he changed his mind after I had already started the project. I had ordered black tolex but after he dropped out of the project I searched for something different. I found Yellow Cab amps in Canada and liked the color scheme.  I'm also glad I tried the WGS speakers. They rock! I've gotten a lot of compliments from other musicians that have seen and heard it at different venues around town. Hows the SV? Still diggin' it as much as the Flex?

It looks pretty cool. Is that a pic behind the expanded sheet metal?

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Lots of family issues over the last 9 months. I used the original Flex cab for a homegrown amp project. I built two Weber EL84 45 watt tube amps on the same chassis and put them inside the Flex cab. I built a 2nd matching cab. I run the stereo output of my PODx3 into the two amps. One runs the internal speaker and one runs the external cab. I'm still using the Flex stack for most gigs though. I tend to migrate away and come back and rediscover things about the Flex that were some of the reasons I originally bought it.
