I want to purchase the spider III 150 head, I have a Laney cab loaded with the celestion speakers. The cab is a non stereo 16 ohm 280 watt. Will this head work with this cab? I do have top and bottom cabs but only want to use a half stack.
msmtrock,
Both speaker outputs of the Spider III HD150 must be connected into it's own 8 ohm speaker jack. They can each connect into a 16 ohm connection, though you will lose volume, but that means your speaker cab will still need 2 jacks at 8 or 16 ohms each.

I have my spider 150HD hooked to a Peavey 412 Windsor with a speaker cable from the left channel on the head to the only 16 ohm input on the cabinet. It works fine but I do not use much volume. Sound comes out of all 4 speakers.
This will eventually cause damage to your amp due to the output imbalance.
Yes. Now that the amp is fixed I rewired the Windsor cabinet with a dual 8 ohm jack plate and it works great. The Supreme XL speakers sound awesome.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
