I can stare at this all day and night and it won't go any further. I uninstalled all my software and tried reinstalling monkey and guess what? I worse off than I was before. Now I can't even use the gearbox plug in.
Win Xp up to date.
P4 2.4ghz northwood
ASUS p4pe
1gb ram PC2700
WD ata100 40g C:
wd 250 SATA
Now what?
There is a slightly newer version of the Monkey now...
Thanks for trying. No go. It still does the same thing.
I was going to write...uninstall all things Line 6 and try again...But it seemed to me that is what you did already....![]()
The problem is back. It was working fine until I installed the new monkey update. Now I'm back to the same problem. The task manager says the program is running but it never gets any further than it did before when I first had this problem. I'm not re-installing my OS to fix this.
Hi,
I spoke with you on the phone earlier...please try using Monkey on another computer and doing a license refresh with your XT connected. Otherwise you may consider reinstalling your OS as it is more likely a system conflict.
Thanks

Hello,
Have you tried rolling back Monkey to see if it will load? Monkey should certainly not hang like that but I think there is something else going on with your computer then just Monkey not loading.
When you performed your uninstall did you use the actual Line 6 Uninstaller app in Add/Remove Programs?

It is not with my computer. I have already re-installed my OS once and do not wish to do it again. If I want to have the next update for Monkey, It seems I'll have to re-install the OS but since that's not going to happen again, I stuck yet again. Whether I go through the the programs menu or the add/remove menu, I still end up with the Line 6 Uninstaller. I used the programs menu way. I can uninstall all Line 6 products and re-install them and I'll end up with more time wasted with the same result.
I had a thought about this. Is it possible I shut a service down and that's why it won't run?
I go to the Black Viper site and shut down services that run in XPSP3. I shut them down by the bare bones settings. Well, all but three of them. Obviously I have to leave the DHCP client running to get on the internet. There are 2 others I have to restart so I can use windows update. I never remember what those are until I access windows update and have to restart them though.
What services need to be running for Monkey to work?
Hello,
Line 6 Monkey will need an internet connection to run. We reccomend optimizing your system and running Windows XP SP III with the following optimization document:

I appreciate you trying to help but still stuck in the same place. I keep this puter running pretty good. I don't use any more programs than I have to and I am pretty good at optimizing XPSP3. I don't know what else to try unless there is a service or are services that need to be restarted. I doubt this is the problem though. It seems that I'm the only one on the entire planet with this problem. I am going to forget this problem on this puter for now since I will have a new one shortly. I just hope everything will run on Win7 64bit.
I finally figured out the problem. I surprised that with the BMP I provided that you guys did not think of it. I noticed (finally) that it kept hanging or whatever when it got to the "checking midi devices" so I thought about it for a minute. I had installed a virtual midi driver from Sonic Foundry so I could link Sonar and Finale together. I uninstalled that driver and Monkey worked just fine.
At least I'm can check for updates again.
Thanks for trying guys.
HOW DO YOU BYPASS THE VIRTUAL MIDI DRIVERS?!!???
It would be difficult for us to know that you installed a virtual MIDI driver without you mentioning it, but we are glad to hear that you figured out the situation.
I realize that. I never looked down and saw that it was getting stuck at the loading midi part. I kept focusing on the grey box with the blue line not moving. Doh.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
