Just Cracked My SV HD100 Open (Job Done Have Pics)

I'm installing mini switches on the front of the amp to access the 4 Push modes for the SVpre. While I have it open, I realized that I have a EH 12AX7 tube sitting around. The same one that came with the SVpre, I'm replacing the V1 preamp tube with it. Also I'm going to replace the LEDs. I'd love to make the faceplace glow purple which is my favorite color, but I think red would look better.
Bro, go get another EH12AX7 and replace both, you'll love it! Purple would be cool, too...
Did you find a good spot for the switches?

I found a spot that I'm more than happy with. I'll post a pic when I'm done. And I'm going get another EH for the V2 phase inverter, at least that's quick and easy to do. Alright, just got back from Radio Shack, no purple or blue LED's. I bought an assortment that has clear, yellow, green, and red. I'm not doing yellow. Red is where I was headed, but green might be interesting. What do you guys think? Any opinions? I'm gonna solder the switches now and I'll do the LED's in an hr or so. Help me decide, red or green.
Well I just broke one of my Reds sooo.......................................The Hulk it is!! LOL! That a good idea man, I might just use that.
OK, I'm going have to work on this more another day. I got the green LED's in, one is not working but logo still lights up. Switching through the Pushes doesn't change anything. Look at the last Pic, the EH 12AX7 is not glowing. I have sound coming out, a bit gritty but loud. I think that tube I put in is no good. Fun Fun Fun. I like the green light-up, just wish it was brighter.
Did you have sound coming out of all the Push modes before?
I´m thinking you may have the ribbon cable backwards! Is this posible?
Actually, when I put the SVpre in originally I set to Orange and left it. I never tried the pushes out before, too much of a hassle. The 1st time I put the ribbon for the BCFH I didn't get any sound, then I pulled them all of, put them on the other way, and thats the way I've been rolling. I left the switch for the pushes in, I was struggling too much to get it out of there. I wired my switches the the connections on the back that switch, with the switch set normal.
OH YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alright I'm in bussiness now. I opened it back up. One of my wires came off, put it back on. There is alot of twisting and turning getting the SVpre inplace so I'm not surprised. Fixed the green LED. Took the amp in the bedroom, and hooked it to the cab. Just the guts of the amp, so it'd be easier to adjust if it didn't solve it. I had the same problem the switches didn't switch anything. I never heard the other modes so I thought I try them out since it was open. When I got to RED Push(holy crap! by the way), I tried my switches and now they work. The switches on the SVpre both have to be off. Now I just have to put it back together. Awesome
Good deal bro! Glad to hear it man, let's see some new pics with The Hulk glowing green in the dark!! ![]()

The Hulk Unleashed!
Ok, here pic of it in the dark. In the light, it's a subtle green and over all not as bright as original LED's. Which is fine, but I'd like the green to be brighter. Red would show up better. I'm really digging the green. Would do you think of the position of my switches in the pics above?
LOL!! Dude that rocks! Cool, so the switches went right where ours did, looks good. How does it sound now with the new green LED?? ![]()
Now go here... http://www.tubesandmore.com/ and put this part number P-L116 in the search box.....![]()

Powerful!
Looks great man! Even though the MKII is coming out, it's awful hard not to pick up a HD100 at the ridiculously low price it's going for now. Especially when you can make it look that cool!

Dude it's hard to want to upgrade to the MK II. It's has alot of pluses over the 1st one, but who know if you'll be able to mod it so much. It's a great thing to do and an awesome amp as it stands. I don't know for sure what I'm going to be doing yet. Probably a matter of time before I cave in though. I've want a IH from L6 for so long.
+1 let's wait and see how good it tracks! ![]()

Hey man, I saw the mods you did. I mainly play an ESP Custom Explorer, but I been play my 7 string Epiphone Les Paul lately. The B string is a bit muddy, do you think your mods help give it alittle more definition? I need to dig up A7's old threads too, I'd like to do a few of his too.
Yes.
For about $2 and a couple simple solder tacks you can find out.
And - hold off on doing all those old A7 mods for a few days also. I'm getting my parts gathered up and will be tearing my amp down in a week or two. I've got some ideas I want to try. I'll post the results.

Ok, I'll hold off. Thanks man
cool!
Very cool, nice job!

Dude, sweet!............I dig the red. That's the color I was originally going to do mine. I have a question though, how are you lighting up the Faceplate without the amp being on? And yours really lights up alot more than mine. Are you using something other than the LED in the SV to light it up?
Hi. Iv been wanting to change the backlight colour on my SV for some time it looks awesome dude!! I bought sum green leds for it but now iv changed them they dont light up!! i changed them back to the original 1s and still no light!!! any ideas?.
really appreciate any advice.
Man that's got to be really frustrating. 1st check your wires and connectors that power the board. I actually need another board on the one side. I fried the the board where I was trying to solder the LED lead at. That one light glows red. Make sure you didn't do the same thing. I've been meaning to see about getting the part, but haven't gotten to it yet. I originally wanted to do red LEDs, but green looks really good. It's doesn't show up that great in the light, need to be dark. The red may have showed up better in the light. I've been thinking about replacing the plexi w/green colored plexi and doing my own logo. I'd most likely switch the LED's back to clear for that. Good Luck, sorry I could offer you more help.
Thanks for the reply m8. iv gota feeling iv fried the boards. all the wires are connected in the right places and i found it quite hard to unsolder the original LED's!! And typically can't find a replacement LED board!! dammit! lol I thought about dpoin my own plexi glass aswell that would look awesome!!
Yeah, they are more sensitive than I thought they'd be. I just posted a thread ask the one of the techs about getting replacement boards. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks alot m8. Really appreciate it.
Hey All... I am hoping someone still comes in these forums. I am looking to ADD a couple of extra red LED's to the front plexiglass panel, which I will be changing from the stock Line 6 / Bogner to a custom panel.
So I ended up buying a multi-meter for installing my SVPre, and the continuity meter worked AMAZING for debugging issues I found with getting the wires seated in the the ribbon connector *grumble POS grumble*. Took me forever. In ANY case, I am still fairly new to taking measurements with my multimeter and I wanted someone to double check my measurement of one of the leads that plug INTO the LED boards. I came up with 4.8v, but I wanted to double check with someone on here, that that was the correct measurement, before I go trying to find LED's and resistors to match this.
Thanks all in advance for your help.
JHS
Probably 5VDC. Your 4.8VDC is close enough.
If I were you I'd make sure I got low current draw lights. You don't want to load up that circuit too much. I don't know what its rated now, so don't load it up more than you must.
And I figure this will blow your warranty if it is still good, so just be aware of that. ![]()
Good luck

Haha. Like I said, I just finished installing the SVPre a couple of weeks ago. Along with the extra red LED and custom plexi-panel, I have already started putting a new tolex and new corner hardware on it. That warrenty is long gone
Thanks for your suggestions M^T. I will definitely look into the low current LEDs. I am gonna try and get my hands on a quickConnect DPST toggle switch to replace the standby switch in the case, so that I can control not only the power amp standby, but also be able to switch the LED circuit on at the same time. Its going to be SICK when I am all done with it. I will try and post a few pictures on here for everyone's enjoyment in a month or so when I finish all my mods ![]()
