Recording Bass Guitar on JM4?

I'd like input on best way and best settings for recording a bass line on the JM4. I'm playing my Fender J-bass Deluxe with active pups, and I don't feel like I'm getting a full, round tone when I record through the guitar input and use the blues amp model.
