New demo track recorded using Toneport UX1 and REAPER!

Hey guys,

Just finished up a new track and thought I'd post it to get some feedback.

All the live tracks were recorded through the UX1, I love that little thing!

Just listening on Reverbnation as it's better quality but in saying that it sounds good on Youtube.Great composition and perfomance.Drums could do with a bit more interest and also the reverb becomes a little annoying.Try rolling off the reverb e.g use the touch of the damping option in the VST you are using. Then the metallic sounds of the hi-hats trials won't be as oppressive and you can afford to drop their volume a little.Hi-hats are a pain for causing a crushing sound that bleeds over other instruments if not treated right.

If you have used the reverb on the complete kit it's sometimes better to send the kick drum out on it's own and just have a little bit less than the rest of the kit if possible.

I'm a Reaper user.Best recording software around for the money IMHO

    Still a great composition IMHO

Again I think you and the song are superb. It is just a bit too much reverb on the drums and some EQing. It's also a great production job.I now exactly what you mean about listening to a song too much. It's easy to get ,"Audio Fatigue".I walk away when I'm near to completion and make a cup of tea or something to distract myself when the song is playing as if I was casually listening to radio. Then if anything annoying in the mix/composition sticks out it usually shows up because I'm not thinking about it.

As for midi drum programming I,like many, have spent way to many hours moving the dots<grin> but now I don't have to move many as I use,"Jamstix2XL",

There are as good if not better drum programs around but they don''t have the one brilliant feature JS has which is a beat/fill generating,"Brain" and great stock kit sounds. Also it has a great forum and the owner/Boss replies on the forum as he cares.Check out some of the tunes on the left of the page.

Most of the material on my Reverbnation site

are done with them.I know some my mixes are not as good as they should be but I also know some I've got them how I wanted and are certainly better than a lot I hear on forums. The most common fault I hear is,"Over-Recording" e.g recording too loud which is not needed in the digital domain. You haven't fallen into this trap by the looks of it.

        Trem,

I think the song itself is excellent!  Guitar is very good!  I agree there's too much reverb on at least the higher frequency drum sounds.  I think the drums are a little loud also (I'm listening with headphones).  I'm curious if you used pitch correction on your vocals, because I'm pretty sure you did.  You are a good singer!  Assuming you did use pitch correction, it makes me think, OK, his pitch control isn't always flawless (I wish my pitch control was a lot better), but in a certain way the pitch tweaks add an interesting element to your vocals.
